Job Summary

The position is responsible for creating and delivering compelling visual content across a wide range of platforms to support the City’s communication, engagement, and marketing initiatives. This position produces high-quality video, photography, graphic design, and digital assets that reflect the City's brand identity and meet diverse project needs. The Multimedia Producer and Designer reports to the Creative Services Manager.

Working collaboratively with internal departments, the Multimedia Producer and Designer manages end-to-end creative production—from concept through final delivery—while ensuring consistency, accessibility, and alignment with organizational goals.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree gained through a four-year college/university academic program or specialized technical training of equivalent length in the field of Graphic Design or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of professional design experience.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.

OR

Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job,

Preferred

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Adobe’s Creative Cloud Suite, including Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and inDesign.
  • Proficiency with CMS platform SiteCore

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Advanced skills in videography, photography, graphic design, and illustration, with a strong eye for aesthetics, color, and typography.
  • Proficiency in content creation for campaigns, events, social media, and internal communications, including video and photo editing.
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, design, and iterate creative content based on performance data and feedback.
  • Strong understanding of ADA accessibility standards as they relate to visual and digital design.
  • Proficient in Windows OS in a networked environment and standard office applications (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Familiarity with Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems and ability to organize and maintain digital libraries.
  • Capable of learning and applying new software tools efficiently.
  • Ability to manage timelines, meet deadlines, and adjust priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities.
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills.

Essential Functions

  • Design Production Across Mediums:
  • Create high-quality visual assets across a range of mediums, including:
  • Video: animations and short-form video content.
  • Photography: compelling photos with a focus on composition.
  • Print: brochures, flyers, posters, ads, billboards.
  • Presentations: PowerPoint decks, templates.
  • Environmental Graphics: wall decals, branded spaces, and experiential displays.
  • Digital: social media graphics, website visuals, display ads, email headers.
  • Adapt designs across formats, orientations, and resolutions for multiple use cases.
  • Visual Brand Consistency:
  • Apply and uphold brand standards across all creative deliverables.
  • Ensure consistency in layout, typography, colors, and imagery in alignment with brand guidelines.
  • Creative Collaboration:
  • Incorporate feedback from stakeholders and iterate efficiently to meet project goals.
  • Communicate effectively and work collaboratively within the Communications & Engagement Department and across the organization on multimedia communication and marketing needs
  • File Management & Asset Organization:
  • Prepare final files for production, both print and digital, including press-ready formats.
  • Maintain organized folders, version control, and naming conventions.
  • Update and manage design templates and creative asset libraries.
  • Production & Vendor Support:
  • Coordinate with external printers, signage providers, and production vendors to deliver quality materials.
  • Review proofs and manage file handoffs to ensure accuracy and quality standards.
  • Digital & Web Support:
  • Support creation of basic web graphics.
  • Assist with resizing and optimizing assets for responsive digital use.
  • Work with CMS platforms (e.g., SiteCore) to update website content.
  • Time & Project Management:
  • Manage multiple design projects with varying deadlines and priorities.
  • Track and communicate progress, ask clarifying questions, and meet delivery timelines.
  • Quality Assurance and Skill Development:
  • Proof designs for errors, alignment, and brand accuracy before final delivery.
  • Implement feedback thoroughly and maintain high standards for output.
  • Stay up to date on design trends, software updates and creative tools.
  • Participate in team reviews, training sessions, and creative brainstorming.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional travel locally to site visits; possible travel to training and certification opportunities.

Work Environment: 

  • Primarily based in a standard office environment, which involves working at a desk or workstation for extended periods.
  • The noise level is generally low to moderate, consistent with a typical office setting.
  • This position may occasionally require visits to other offices or off-site locations for meetings or project work, depending on job responsibilities.

Physical Requirements

  • Mobility: Minimal physical effort typically found in clerical work. occasional walking or standing, ability to move throughout office location.
  • Dexterity: Ability to perform repetitive movements for typing, writing, and operating office equipment.
  • Strength: Ability to lift or carry objects weighing up to 15 pounds occasionally.
  • Endurance: Ability to maintain focus and productivity for periods while performing job duties.
  • Flexibility: Infrequent need to perform the following physical activities: bend/stoop/squat, climb stairs, push or pull, reach above shoulders.
  • Vision and Hearing: Sufficient visual ability to read printed or digital documents, view computer screens, and perform detail-oriented tasks. Adequate hearing to participate in verbal conversations, virtual, phone, and in person communications.
