The Production Engineer I at Digifabshop/CWKA is the critical translator who connects digital models to our advanced manufacturing machines. You will apply your expertise in processing, fixturing, and machining to bring geometrically complex designs to life. This role is instrumental in converting fabrication-ready 3D models into optimized CNC programs and designing the custom jigs and fixtures that make our ambitious projects possible.

What You'll Achieve in Your First 6 Months:

  • Own a Production Package: You will take full ownership of developing the complete mill handoff package for a project, from model import to final CNC program.

  • Design a Complex Fixture: You will design, model, and program the CAM paths for a multi-part fixture required to machine a complex assembly on one of our CNCs.

  • Master the Feedback Loop: You will establish a strong, proactive feedback loop with the CNC operators on the mill, using their insights to improve the efficiency of your future programs.

  • Streamline a Process: You will identify and advocate for a change in an operational method that reduces inefficiency and increases production throughput.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Import Fabrication Engineering models and produce 3-axis and/or 5-axis CNC programs.

  • Design and develop fabrication-ready 3D models and drawings for all required CNC fixtures and jigs.

  • Extract and manipulate geometry from engineering models for part-nesting and cut-lists.

  • Actively communicate with the Machines Manager, Engineering team, and CNC Operators to ensure the successful fabrication of all parts.

  • Review all specified materials to understand their intended use and limitations.

What We're Looking For:

Core Qualifications (What you'll need to succeed):

  • Demonstrated experience in CNC programming, machining, or production engineering, typically gained over 2-4 years.

  • Proficiency in Rhino 3D and Mastercam (3-axis and 5-axis).

  • A solid understanding of CAM post-processing and machine constraints.

  • The ability to design effective fixtures and jigs for CNC operations.

Preferred Qualifications (Great if you have them):

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Experience with custom fabrication or complex geometries.

  • Familiarity with g-code and machine positional controls.

  • Experience using Grasshopper or similar parametric modeling software.
