Basic Purpose
Positions in this job family are responsible for oversight of the configuration, optimization, and governance of digital design environments across engineering, planning, and construction disciplines. This role ensures that Computer Aided Design and Building Information Modeling (CAD/BIM) platforms are standardized, scalable, and interoperable across the organization, supporting the successful delivery of infrastructure and capital projects.
Typical Functions

This is a one level job family where the incumbent will perform all duties and responsibilities at all levels of complexity at a full performance level. The CAD/BIM Workspace Manager is a key enabler of efficient, high-quality design and construction workflows. This level supports the digital transformation of infrastructure delivery and helps reduce project risk, cost, and delays by ensuring technical consistency and interoperability across platforms. The incumbent will support a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, contributing to long-term success in infrastructure and digital delivery initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of team dynamics; of adult training practices and principles; of 3D modeling principles and techniques for creating and maintaining models; and of project management principles and methodologies, including planning, organizing, and managing resources.
Skill required is the skill to manage and organize BIM data, including file naming conventions, version control, and data security; and to develop and implement CAD/BIM workflows and standards.
Ability required is the ability to manage multiple projects; to support a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment; to establish and maintain effective relationships; to communicate effectively in oral and written form; and to lead, motivate, and train a team.
Education And Experience
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelor’s degree in engineering technology, Information Systems, Architecture, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one (1) year of qualifying experience for each year of the required education.

- Manages and maintains digital workspaces across platforms such as MicroStation, Civil 3D, Revit, ProjectWise, and other design tools.
- Develops, enforces, and updates workspace standards, templates, feature definitions, and file structures to support consistent project delivery.
- Coordinates with engineering, construction, planning, and IT teams to align 2D and 3D workflows with business and project goals.
- Implements and monitors version control, file naming conventions, and data exchange standards across internal and external teams.
- Serves as a subject matter expert on digital design platforms, advising on best practices, system upgrades, and integration opportunities.
- Troubleshoots workspace-related issues and serve as a point of escalation for technical support.
- Collaborates with vendors to evaluate new features, manages software licenses, and participates in user testing or pilots.
- Provides onboarding, training, and knowledge-sharing resources to increase system proficiency across departments.
- Supports automation and scripting for workspace setup, file management, and data validation.
- Contributes to the organization’s digital delivery strategy, helping to evaluate and implement emerging technologies in design and construction.

- Advanced knowledge of CAD/BIM platforms, including MicroStation, Civil 3D, Revit, and ProjectWise.
- Experience with digital workspace configuration, system governance, and standards development.
- Familiarity with automation tools (e.g., scripts, macros, or APIs) for workflow improvements.
