The Referral Manager is responsible for building and managing the firm’s national referral and co-counsel network. This individual serves as a key liaison between Berry Law and its partner firms, ensuring referred clients experience a seamless transition and high-quality representation. The role is essential in supporting firm growth through strategic relationship development and operational oversight of the referral process.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Onboard and coordinate with new referral or co-counsel partners.
  • Ensure timely and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders regarding referrals.
  • Serve as a central contact for referral network inquiries and escalations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain co-counsel and referral relationships with partner firms across the country.
  • Create and manage a referral criteria matrix that guides decisions on when to refer cases out or accept referred matters.
  • Evaluate and vet new potential partner firms; manage onboarding into the referral network.
  • Track all active referral cases, monitor their progress, and ensure regular communication with referring and receiving firms.
  • Coordinate the process of sending cases to external firms, including confirmation of receipt and acceptance.
  • Provide regular reports on referral volume, status, and performance metrics to the Sales Supervisor.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, sales personnel, and leadership to ensure referral decisions align with the firm’s strategic goals.
  • Resolve referral-related issues promptly, maintaining a high standard for client service and reputation.

  • High attention to detail with excellent organizational and case-tracking skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of legal services and law firm operations.
  • Proficiency with case management systems and CRM tools is preferred.

Experience And Professional Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in client relations, legal operations, or business development, preferably in a law firm environment.
  • Proven track record of building partnerships and managing referral systems or co-counsel relationships.
  • Preferred: Experience working in a legal, client-focused, or business development role within a multi-office or national firm.
  • Strongly Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Legal Studies, or related field.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
