Responsibilities: As a Payroll Clerk you will be responsible for managing the payroll process, ensuring that employees are compensated accurately and on time. Your key responsibilities will include:

Payroll Processing:

  • Collect and verify timekeeping data, including hours worked, overtime, and time-off requests.
  • Calculate wages, deductions, and with-holdings accurately based on company policies and regulations.
  • Prepare and process payroll using payroll software, ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations.


Employee Records:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personal information, tax forms, and direct deposit details.
  • Ensure data confidentiality and security of sensitive payroll information.


Benefits Administration:

  • Assist in the administration of employee benefits, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and other deductions.
  • Collaborate with carriers to ensure accurate benefit enrollment and changes.
  • Reconcile benefits and pay carriers in a timely fashion


Payroll Reporting:

  • Generate and distribute payroll reports to relevant departments, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
  • Prepare payroll-related reports for management and external agencies as required.


Tax Compliance:

  • Calculate and withhold appropriate taxes, including income tax, Social Security, and other deductions.
  • Prepare and submit payroll tax reports to relevant authorities.


Problem Resolution:

  • Address payroll-related inquiries from employees and resolve issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with HR and finance team members to resolve discrepancies and ensure accuracy.


New Hire Processing:

  • Initiate applicant backgrounds in the ATS once verification has been completed and promptly relay results to hiring manager(s)
  • Once date of hire is confirmed the applicant should be entered in to all applicable systems 48 hours prior to start date
  • Complete on-boarding via payroll software and collect any missing documents


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is a plus.
  • Proven experience (5 years) in payroll processing, preferably using payroll software.
  • Familiarity with payroll regulations, tax codes, and labor laws.
  • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and payroll software.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Confidentiality and integrity when handling sensitive payroll data.
