Who We’re Looking For

Toyota’s Material Engineering Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated engineer to work in the Anti-Corrosion, Sealers and Adhesives group.

The primary responsibility of this role is to develop and evaluate parts and materials for use in mobility products. Focusing on anti-corrosion strategies, coatings, sealers, and adhesives

Reporting to the Senior Manager, the person in this role will support the Materials Engineering Department's objective to apply innovative materials that meet customer and company needs.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Assessing anti-corrosion methods on vehicle development and in the field
  • Supporting our manufacturing centers and suppliers on technical issues
  • Developing, evaluating and localizing materials
  • Creating evaluation and test plans to meet program milestones and judging the results
  • Work with our global counter departments to implement future needs and requirements
  • Continuously reviewing industry trends and competitive landscape to identify new ways to delight our customers
  • Up to 20% travel domestic and international possible at times
  • OT of up to 10 hours/week if necessary to meet deliverables

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
  • 1-5 years Engineering experience (co-op or full time)
  • Microsoft office suite (intermediate experience)
  • Demonstrated experience in a team environment
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiar with basic vehicle knowledge and function
  • Experience in anti-corrosion methods in automotive or similar industry
  • Previous experience in adhesives, sealers, and coatings or metallic plating

Added Bonus If You Have

  • Previous experience in adhesives, sealers, and coatings or metallic plating
  • Experience working with design/development/evaluation for an automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier
  • Experience working with Python or other object-oriented programming language
  • Experience in lab environment with proven technique for reliable data generation
