Our Headquarters are located on the Torrey Pines Mesa, in La Jolla, California at the center of the biotech hub. Our Manufacturing facility is in Sorrento Valley. This role is based in our Torrey Pines location.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with R&D to facilitate technology transfer of expression and purification procedures to manufacturing.
- Perform manufacturing protein expressions (bioreactor) and purifications (Akta systems) adhering to established protocols and document all process data clearly in batch records and power point presentations.
- Continuously evaluate and improve current manufacturing process and design. Focusing on scale up and optimizing the process by shortening, streamlining, improving robustness, or reducing labor and cost of the process.
- Author and review comprehensive process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions (WI) and batch records (BR).
- Provide support, guidance and mentorship to team members. Share knowledge and expertise to support their professional growth.
- Troubleshoot any technical challenges and propose innovative solutions for process improvement.
- Foster good work relationships with cross-functional teams, including R&D, reagents manufacturing team and quality control team.
- Stay abreast of the latest downstream processing technologies and techniques advancements. Evaluate, recommend, and implement new methods, equipment, or technologies to enhance processes.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Life Sciences with relevant hands-on industry experience: B.S. 5 years, M.Sc. 3 years, PhD 1 year.
- Extensive protein expression and purification experience required.
- Proficiency in operating bioreactors and Akta purification systems highly preferred.
- Experience with enzymatic assay execution and protein conjugation is a plus.

The estimated base salary range for this role based in the United States of America is: $88,200 - $126,600. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Should the level of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated accordingly. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
