Summary
Leila Day is in search of a high energy, enthusiastic teacher assistant for our After School Program who is familiar with and/or willing to learn about outdoor education, art education, and working with young children in an after-school context.
The hours are 2:30-5:30, additional subbing hours may well be available
Duties
Assistant Teachers will collaborate with the Lead Teacher in cultivating an environment of creativity, exploration, and joy while supporting the emergent ideas of young children and helping them learn and grow. In addition, Assistant Teachers will help the Lead Teacher manage the classroom, including, but not limited to playing and working with the children,classroom organization and cleanliness, and curriculum planning. The Assistant Teacher is expected to support the lead teacher on trips and adventures in East Rock Park.
Requirements
Experience working with children
Experience outdoors ( hiking, camping, fishing, birdwatching, animal care, gardening, geology, astronomy, etc)
Growth mindset: willingness to learn about outdoor education, arts education and the emergent curriculum at Leila Day
Reliable, show up for work, show up on time, clear communication
After School Program hours 2:30-5:30
