Principal MMIC Product Engineer

Job Description:

As a Product Engineer at MACOM Technology Solutions, you will be a key team member of the New Product Development Engineering team responsible for the release of a diverse portfolio of microwave semiconductor products from MHZ to 50GHz+, targeting Satcom, Communications, Test and Measurement, Aerospace and Defense, and general use applications into mass production. The Product Engineer’s role includes the development of production tests plans to verify product performance, the design and debug of RF test boards for automated test equipment and the statistical analysis of data using sound statistical methodology in order to set test limits and datasheet specifications. To accomplish these tasks, the Product Engineer will interact closely with Design Engineering, Test Engineering, Applications, Marketing, and Reliability Engineering to analyze and resolve issues, as they relate to sample, pre-production and full production release of a product. You will work with internal and offshore test facilities to release products to production. A strong semiconductor product characterization and test background and the ability to collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines at different geographical location worldwide are essential to the success of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of production test strategies for new MMIC products from concept through volume manufacturing.
  • Design and debug RF/microwave test hardware for automated test systems.
  • Perform advanced RF measurements and statistical data analysis to define test limits and datasheet specifications.
  • Collaborate with Design, Test, Applications, Reliability, and Marketing teams to ensure robust product performance and manufacturability.
  • Drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives for yeild, performance, and reliability.
  • Guide internal and offshore test facilities in the implementation of test solutions and product release processes.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of best practices and engineering standards.
  • Lead or contribute to cross-functional project teams with moderate to high complexity and business impact.
  • Take full ownership of assigned projects/tasks and ensure their successful completion per schedule and priorities.

Job Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent – Masters degree is a plus
  • More than 7 years of experience as a Product or Test Engineer in the semiconductor field
  • Knowledge of a wide range of RF/microwave and optical semiconductor products including amplifiers, attenuators, switches, and RF modules.
  • Strong background in MMIC characterization, statisical analysis, and yield optimization.
  • Experience in the characterization of semiconductor devices
  • Demostrated ability to lead technical projects and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis tool such as JMP.
