Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Transportation Manager, the Transportation Aide will provide assistance in loading and unloading participants in and out of PACE vehicles. They will greet participants and visitors, and monitor the flow of the loading area. Additionally, the Transportation Aide will be responsible for following transportation safety standards. They will maintain courteous, helpful, and profession behavior on the job, and accept other related duties as assigned.

Essential Job Functions

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Adhere to the company policy on confidentiality both within the ADHC center and community
  • Work closely with all Transportation staff to ensure an integrated approach and provide comprehensive services to participants.
  • Ensure the safety of participants at all times.
  • Ability to assist participants in and out of PACE vehicles.
  • Adhere to program policies and procedures for safe boarding and exiting of PACE vehicles.
  • In case of emergency, work with the ADHC staff and/or drivers to evacuate participants, physically assisting them to the designated area.
  • Ability to monitor and fill out incident reports, when required.
  • Able to communicate effectively with others.
  • Maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), safety equipment, and sanitation materials for all PACE vehicles
  • Track vehicle breakdowns, repairs needed, and vendor locations for all PACE vehicles
  • Identify and recommend processes to improve optimal guest services and transportation pick up and drop up of PACE participants
  • Transportation Aides are expected to uphold HIPAA regulations at all times. Demonstrate strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
  • Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with staff and members.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, in-services, projects, and committees as assigned.
  • Adhere to and support the center’s practices, procedures, and policies including assigned break times and attendance.
  • Follow the directions given by the Transportation Coordinator(s) and Director of Transportation.
  • Learn the Transportation software and utilize it to adjust routes as needed
  • Prioritize and maintain vehicles repairs and requests per vehicle and driver, report findings to the Director of Transportation
  • May perform driving responsibilities including operating company vehicles for delivering care packages, transporting vehicles for maintenance needs; assist in other driving task, except the transportation of participants, as needed.
  • Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner; and perform all other related duties as assigned.
  • Be flexible in schedule of hours worked.
  • May require use of personal vehicle

  • Ability to access all areas of the center throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds occasionally, 15 pounds frequently, and 7 pounds constantly; required to obtain assistance of another qualified employee when attempting to lift or transfer objects over 25 pounds.
  • Requires constant hand grasp and finger dexterity; frequent sitting, standing, walking and repetitive leg and arm movements, occasional bending, reaching forward and overhead; squatting and kneeling.
  • Ability to communicate verbally with an excellent comprehension of the English language.
  • Work is generally performed in an indoor, well-lighted, well-ventilated, heated, and air-conditioned environment.

Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum of one (1) year of documented experience working with a frail or elderly population.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Excellent planning and supervision abilities.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with staff, elderly, public and private agencies, governmental officials, providers of services, and peers.
  • Energetic, well organized, dependable, flexible, and resourceful.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications: Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Education and Certification

  • High School Graduate or completion of a GED program preferred
  • Valid CA driver’s license preferred.
  • Is medically cleared for communicable diseases and has all immunizations up-to-date before engaging in direct participant contact
