Position Overview

As a detail-oriented and customer-focused Mortgage Loan Officer Assistant, you will support our licensed mortgage loan officers within a high-volume, direct-to-consumer mortgage origination call center. This role plays a critical part in enhancing loan officer productivity by streamlining processes, ensuring accurate documentation, and delivering exceptional customer experience throughout the loan lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Loan File Preparation & Documentation:
  • Assist in gathering and organizing loan application materials and required supporting documents
  • Accurately set up and structure loan files in the Encompass loan origination system (LOS), ensuring all initial documents are in place prior to submission for conditional loan approval.
  • Run Automated Underwriting Systems (AUS) such as DU or LP, and update figures and documentation in the LOS.
  • Ensure loan data integrity by entering, reviewing, and updating information across systems.
  • Customer Communication & Experience:
  • Maintain proactive communication with borrowers, responding to routine inquiries and following up on outstanding documentation.
  • Provide a seamless borrower experience through timely and professional support, reinforcing BSI’s customer-first philosophy.
  • Pipeline Management & Issue Resolution:
  • Support loan officers in managing their pipelines by monitoring key dates, status changes, and follow-ups.
  • Review documents and loan files to identify missing or incorrect information and collaborate with loan officers and processors to resolve issues promptly.
  • Compliance & Accuracy:
  • Uphold compliance with federal and investor guidelines during data entry and document collection
  • Clarify loan information through outreach to customers as needed (via phone, email, or portal).

Required Qualifications

  • 1+ year of experience in lending (origination support or processing) with knowledge of Conventional, FHA, or VA loan products.
  • Proficient in managing documentation and timelines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with sharp attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in mortgage lending (origination support or processing) with knowledge of Conventional, FHA, or VA loan products.
  • Experience with Encompass Loan Origination System.
  • Familiarity with NMLS SAFE guidelines and licensing standards (NMLS not required for this role but is a plus).

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely utilizes standard office equipment, including computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The ability to sit for long periods is essential.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This full-time position in our Irving office is considered a “hybrid” for in-office attendance. The days and in-office attendance may vary based on business needs and team performance. The days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. CST. Overtime may be required as needed.
