Job Overview

Pivotal Construction is seeking an experienced Construction Operations Manager to lead and deliver complex commercial construction projects, including ground-up, industrial/tilt-up, and big-box retail developments. With 5-10 years of leadership experience at a general contractor, the ideal candidate is highly organized, skilled in cross-functional team collaboration, and excels at project execution from pre-construction to closeout. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned PM ready to make an impact on large-scale builds with a fast-growing GC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee full-cycle management of ground-up construction projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and subcontractor coordination
  • Lead pre-construction activities, such as estimating, value engineering, and contract negotiation
  • Manage all phases of industrial/tilt-up and big-box retail builds to ensure alignment with project specifications and code requirements
  • Collaborate closely with clients, architects, engineers, and field teams to ensure deliverables are met
  • Identify project risks and resolve issues proactively to avoid delays or cost overruns
  • Monitor project financials, labor productivity, and material procurement
  • Maintain clear and thorough documentation: RFIs, submittals, change orders, and progress reports
  • Provide strong leadership to superintendents, engineers, and project coordinators
  • Foster long-term relationships with clients and trade partners to encourage repeat business
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to maximize operational efficiency

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of experience in commercial construction with a general contractor, including direct responsibility for ground-up builds
  • Proven track record of managing tilt-up, industrial, or large retail developments
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Proficient with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and Office Suite
  • Deep understanding of construction methods, scheduling, building codes, and safety practices
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously while delivering on time and within budget

Benefits

  • Salary: $155,000-$185,000 based on experience
  • Performance Bonus: Up to 12.5% of annual base salary based on job performance and company profitability; distributed semi-annually (6/30 and 12/31)
  • Vacation Stipend: $2,500 vacation bonus after 6 months and submission of qualified receipts
  • 401(k): Employer safe harbor contribution of 3% with employee deferral option

    • Group Life/AD&D: 2x annual earnings (up to $450,000)
    • Voluntary Life/AD&D options for employee, spouse, and children
    • Long-Term Disability: 60% salary/bonus, up to $6,500/month
    • Individual Disability for earnings $130k+: additional $5,500/month benefit
  • Time Off:
    • Three weeks (120 hours) vacation annually, accrued semi-monthly
    • 50 hours paid sick leave annually
    • Cell Phone Allowance:
    • $120/month
