Brief Description

Intake Advocates play a vital role by guiding guests through the intake process with dignity and compassion, offering hope through access to supportive services. This position focuses on gathering information, performing data entry, and evaluating individual needs to determine appropriate programs and resources. The Intake Advocate serves as the first point of contact for guests at Gospel Rescue Mission, creating a welcoming and compassionate first impression. Additional duties, including but not limited to the following:

General Activities

  • Conduct initial assessments of potential guests, including a comprehensive inspection, inventory, and documentation of personal belongings
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough guest records, documenting interactions, concerns, and pertinent details
  • Warmly greet all individuals, including guests, visitors, volunteers, staff, donors, vendors, church/community groups, and public officials
  • Administer a preliminary intake questionnaire to assist in determining the most suitable program placement for each guest
  • Accurately input complete guest data into the designated database system
  • Collaborate with external agencies as needed to support guests
  • Uphold Gospel Rescue Mission’s Standard of Excellence under the direction of the Program Director and Intake Manager
  • Comply with HIPAA regulations, GRM’s Confidentiality Policy, and all applicable privacy and security standards
  • Coordinate and facilitate access to essential services (e.g., medical, legal, and ancillary), addressing barriers to guest success
  • Triage and direct guests to the appropriate staff or services based on assessed needs
  • Provide clear, compassionate communication to guests regarding the intake and program process
  • Conduct required breathalyzer and urinalysis testing for all intakes and potential guests
  • De-escalate emotionally or physically adverse situations, applying appropriate crisis intervention and conflict resolution techniques
  • Respond to emergencies (medical, emotional, or physical) and contact appropriate authorities as needed
  • Collaborate with the Safety and Security Team to ensure the protection of all guests, staff, and property
  • Promptly report any safety or security issues to relevant leadership
  • Support and work alongside volunteers, promoting a unified and mission-aligned team culture
  • Maintain compliance with all organizational policies, legal regulations, and the Code of Ethical Conduct
  • Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Professional Development

  • Satisfy all pieces of training as assigned by the manager (onboarding, basic training, OPPD, etc.)
  • Achieve weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual success goals as approved and by GRM benchmarks and strategic plan
  • Attend staff meetings or other meetings as directed

Requirements

  • Minimum HS diploma or GED required; or 1 year of experience in social services or a related field
  • Certification in Peer Support is preferred
  • Professional phone, in-person, and written communication skills
  • Effectively works on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Proficient computer abilities using Microsoft Office and web-based management systems
  • Proficient listener and problem-solver
  • Ability to establish a positive rapport using sincerity and professionalism
  • Maintain a valid Arizona Driver’s License and have a clean driving record
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
  • Must be a Christian, living a life dedicated to Christ, and be an instrument of God’s love, grace, hope, and forgiveness to all

Physical Demands

  • This individual may encounter individuals who are ill and/or contagious and must take precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone
  • Requires frequent sitting, standing, and walking; and lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds

Mental Demands

  • The population we serve is typically in crisis. This can cause emotional stress and compassion fatigue. GRM highly promotes employee self-care

Employment Status

  • Full-time 40 hours per week non-exempt
  • Eligible for paid time off; eligible for benefits
  • BFOQ (Bona Fide Occupational Qualification) Faith-aligned

Reports to: Intake Manager

Starting rate of pay: $15.00 per hour
