The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to support our family office and private foundation, the Kapor Foundation, by helping oversee general accounting operations, verify, and reconcile our financial transactions.
Staff Accountant responsibilities include: processing accounts payable and employee expense reports, reconciling various bank and credit card accounts, maintaining the general ledger, preparing month-end close procedures, reconciling balance sheet accounts, processing physical mail in-person, and organizing documents in our electronic repository.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

Salary
Final offer amount is determined by multiple factors including: geographic location, experience, and expertise, which may vary from the amounts listed above.
The Pay Range For This Role Is
75,000 - 103,500 USD per year(Bay Area)

The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to support our family office and private foundation, the Kapor Foundation, by helping oversee general accounting operations, verify, and reconcile our financial transactions.
Staff Accountant responsibilities include: processing accounts payable and employee expense reports, reconciling various bank and credit card accounts, maintaining the general ledger, preparing month-end close procedures, reconciling balance sheet accounts, processing physical mail in-person, and organizing documents in our electronic repository.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
- Accounts Payable Processing
- Bill processing, which includes assigning appropriate bill approvals (via Ramp)
- Adding new vendors to the systems and maintaining vendor databases
- Monitoring billing email inbox and addressing all billing requests
- Document Management & Mail Processing
- Opening physical mail received in our Oakland office and scanning mail to be saved in our electronic document repository
- Ensuring all important documents that are received electronically are saved in our electronic document repository
- Monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
- Maintain our expense & AP platform in Ramp
- Ensuring that the system is syncing correctly across Sage Intacct & Ramp
- Following up with staff on past due expense reports each month
- Training, supporting, and adding new staff in Ramp
- Administrator for Ramp credit cards
- Issuing credit cards to new staff and resolving issues related to credit cards
- Audit Support
- Assisting with PBC requests
- Providing requested AP documentation
- AP/AR Aging Reconciliation to Balance Sheet
- Creating report in Intacct that shows variances
- 1099 Maintenance & Filings
- Collecting Form W-9s from all paid vendors
- Ensuring that vendors are entered into the system with W-9 information
- Maintaining compliance with annual 1099-Misc/NEC filings and preparing filings each year
- Monthly Close Duties
- Working closely with Senior Accountants & Director of Finance to meet monthly close deadlines
- Performing balance sheet reconciliations for all entities
- Maintaining depreciation schedule and record depreciation entries
- Assisting in other accounting and related projects, as required
- 2+ years of relevant Staff Accountant experience processing accounts payable and expense reports, closing of books, posting journal entries, completing bank and/or credit card reconciliations, etc.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment
- Strong Excel skills
- Experience with enterprise level accounting software. Preferred experience with Sage Intacct
- Adept at navigating between systems; we use Ramp, Sage Intacct, FloQast, and Workday Adaptive Insights
- Family office experience preferred. Multi-entity experience and foundation or non-profit experience are a plus.
