Pediatric Home Service (PHS), a nationally recognized leader in home health care for medically complex patients, is seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Compliance Coder to join our Compliance team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring our billing, coding, and documentation practices align with payer regulations, safeguard reimbursement integrity, and uphold ethical standards.

Our services allow our clients to remain and thrive in their homes, schools, and communities. The majority of the clients we serve are age’s birth through 21 years old and have a variety of technologies that might include a trach, ventilator or g-tube.

Pediatric Home Service (PHS), a nationally recognized leader in home health care for medically complex patients, is seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Compliance Coder to join our Compliance team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring our billing, coding, and documentation practices align with payer regulations, safeguard reimbursement integrity, and uphold ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Review medical documentation and billing data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with current coding and payer guidelines.
- Assign and abstract ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and HCPCS codes for medical equipment, supplies, and services.
- Conduct internal audits in accordance with the Compliance Work Plan to detect and correct coding discrepancies.
- Assist in developing internal policies and procedures aligned with payer requirements.
- Monitor payer rule updates and ensure accurate implementation in daily coding practices.
- Prepare written reports and communicate audit findings and recommendations to appropriate stakeholders.
- Deliver staff education on coding practices, documentation requirements, and audit findings.
- Collaborate with billing and clinical teams to ensure coding aligns with medical necessity and documentation standards.
Education & Experience:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 1–2 years of relevant experience in coding, auditing, or compliance.
- Strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement methodologies and payer requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Certified Coding Associate (CCA) or equivalent certification required within 6 months of hire
- Experience with Medicare/Medicaid documentation and compliance standards.
- Prior exposure to Durable Medical Equipment (DME) billing.
- Advanced credentials (e.g., CPC, CCS, RHIT/RHIA).
- Familiarity with compliance audits, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning
