General Summary: Manages the Credit Solutions Department that works to minimize credit union losses due to loan default through a rigorous collection process while being sensitive to any hardships which may have caused a member to default on financial obligations owed to the credit union. Works with loan officers to analyze delinquent history to consider options to manage debt. Perform all functions of the collection area as well as managing staff.

Responsibilities
Collection Responsibilities
- Conduct collection calls on past due accounts in person, by phone and/or documented letters and notices of correspondence.
- Provide assistance and direction for members with past due accounts.
- Assist in taking loan applications and giving Blue Book and PC Car-Facts as needed.
- Prepare lending documents to help members work through their financial circumstances. Includes taking, developing and close status applications to put both the members and the credit union in a better financial situation.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the Bankruptcy Act and consumer protection laws.
- Maintain knowledge of all state and federal regulations that are applicable to the transactions done by both collection and lending areas of banking.
- Monitor and achieve collection goals and maintain delinquency objectives.
- Produce and monitor monthly collection reports for Board and Management review.
- Oversee the handling of recovery and sale of repossessions.
- Handle acquisition and sale of foreclosed real estate.
- Oversee and review accounts turned over for collection or to the attorney for collection.
- Process Life, Health & Accident insurance claims.
- Direct the processing of delinquent notices, Right to Cure letters and all other collection notices and letters.
- Monitor the collection software to make sure it is used to the maximum benefit for the credit union.
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner in relationship to all credit union activities.
- Coordinate and implement work schedule for the department.
- Work with and train department staff to review and consider the member’s entire portfolio before taking any action; payment history, credit history, checking account history, direct deposit, etc.
- Ensure team members attend compliance training and testing as required.
- Evaluate job performance and provide feedback and coaching.
- Foster a teamwork approach with department staff in dealing with other departments.
- Develop an understanding of credit union philosophy, organization, bylaws, and operational procedures.
- Actively support our “sales and service “culture and demonstrate these skills by communicating to members the benefits and features of all our products and services.
- Expect and embrace change by being flexible and adaptable. Meet performance objectives and expectations (i.e., Sales, Quality Service and Reliability).
- Help analyze needs and changes in the credit union to maintain and increase member expectations along with creating potential new products for members.
- Complete training based on required classes set up for this position.
- Assist in any area as directed by management.
- Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field preferred. Some college strongly preferred.
- Two years of collections experience preferred, one year required.
- Leadership/supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Must have excellent attention to detail, organization, and accuracy skills.
- Must have the ability to effectively manage a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have demonstrated experience with handling difficult conversations, interviewing individuals with a positive solution-oriented focus, and behaving in a mature and helpful manner with proper judgment.
- Full-time, Salary Exempt.
- Monday - Friday 8a – 5p, plus Saturday morning rotation.
- Wage is commensurate with experience and skills
- This position is eligible for a discretionary gain-share plan payment annually.

- Vacation– 2 weeks/year
- Sick – 2 weeks/year
- Personal Day – 2 days earned after one year
- Holiday Pay – 6 paid holidays/year + 5 additional federal holidays per year.
