AbbVie Immunology is dedicated to identifying break-through therapies for inflammatory and auto-immune diseases that will have a remarkable impact on patients lives. The Immuno-Pharmacology & Peptide Discovery group is seeking an Associate Scientist II to join our team in Worcester MA. This lab-based role supports both IND-enabling and early-stage discovery programs in Immunology through hands-on in vitro pharmacology experimentation. The candidate will characterize drug candidate molecules and validate drug targets. Responsibilities include designing, executing, analyzing, and reporting on in vitro assays to explore key biological questions related to autoimmune diseases. The candidate will apply fundamental scientific principles and be highly skilled in cellular, molecular, and biochemical techniques.

Key Responsibilities
- Scientific Research: Design and perform biochemical and cellular studies of drug potency and mechanism of action
- Data Analysis: Analysis and interpretation of quantitative data
- Protocol Development: Follow and adapt experimental protocols while implementing new methods as needed.
- Communication Effectively organize and communicate research progress and activities through oral and written presentations
- Literature Review: Review literature for insights that aid experimental design and contribute ideas.
- Documentation: Maintenance of accurate and current records of research
- Collaboration: Work with cross-disciplinary teams, offering scientific expertise to drive project progress.
- Education/ Years of Experience: Bachelors or Masters degree in Biology or a closely related discipline with typically 0-2(MS) or 3-5(BS) years experience.
- Experience with cellular assays: 2nd messenger, proliferation, phospho-protein analysis, gene reporter, release of soluble mediators, MSD, CETSA, high content microscopy, flow cytometry
- Experience with biochemical assays: enzymatic activity and binding
- Experience with cell culture: the preparation and isolation of primary immune cells
- Interpersonal Capabilities: Highly motivated, detail-oriented, curious of the science, and desiring to learn novel in vitro pharmacology techniques. Candidate must be highly collaborative and thrive in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment.
- Strong IT skills: familiarity with spreadsheets and curve-fitting programs like graph pad
- Organizational Skills: Outstanding time management and organizational abilities, adept at handling multiple priorities and tasks effectively.
- Builds strong relationships with peers and cross-functionally with partners outside of team to enable higher performance
- Learns fast, grasps the "essence" and can change course quickly when needed
- Raises the bar and is never satisfied with the status quo
- Creates a learning environment, open to suggestions and experimentation for improvement
