Description

We are looking for an experienced an Inventory Control (Order Fulfillment) Manager to join our team to manage all functions related to material planning, scheduling, inventory control, and material flow to support efficient and uninterrupted production operations. This role collaborates closely with purchasing, production planning, manufacturing, warehousing, sales, and shipping departments to ensure the supply chain performs effectively from order entry through billing. The position also involves reviewing current orders, coordinating supply chain activities, and ensuring that forecasting and supply chain procedures are properly followed to support on-time deliveries.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead the production planning and material control team to ensure timely and accurate flow of materials across production, warehouse, and shipping departments.
  • Coordinate with purchasing and production planning to ensure accurate forecasting and material availability.
  • Work closely with the Material Control Supervisor and accounting department to ensure procedures are being followed, inventory counts, shipping and billing entries are accurate and timely.
  • Collaborate with sales to develop, implement, and maintain sales forecasting tools and processes.
  • Maintain system accuracy in the ERP/MRP (Great Plains) system and ensure all material transactions are properly recorded.
  • Review and analyze material usage trends, safety stock levels, and lead times to drive recommendations and projects to continuously improve inventory performance.
  • Coordinate weekly inventory, sales orders, and shipping forecast reviews.
  • Oversee cycle counts, physical inventories, and reconciliation processes to ensure inventory integrity.
  • Publish weekly and monthly production plans in alignment with sales, production, and purchasing.
  • Supervise the integrity of planning activities such as master production schedule and demand analysis.
  • Track open sales orders throughout the process to ensure Adequate supplies, communicate estimated delivery dates, and push/pull orders out/in as necessary based on changing demand.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts of logistics (freight transportation), supply chain procedures to reduce lead times and ensure timely delivery to customers.
  • Act as a liaison between departments to help resolve any supply chain related problems.
  • Develop and maintain KPIs in alignment with senior management.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5-7 years of working experience in high volume material control, inventory management, logistics and/or supply chain role, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business logistics, or related field preferred.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems required. Experience with Great Plains is helpful but not required.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong understanding of material planning, inventory control, and production scheduling principles.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of personnel in a professional manner.
  • Ability to use independent judgement and make recommendations, be proactive.
  • APICS, CPIM or CSCP certification is a plus, but not required.

Physical Conditions / Requirements

  • No unusual physical requirements. It requires no heavy lifting, and nearly all work is done in a comfortable indoor facility.
  • Occasional – Routine deadlines; usually sufficient lead time; variance in work volume seasonal and predictable; priorities can be anticipated; some interruptions are present; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor.
  • Job frequently requires sitting and handling objects with hands.
  • Job occasionally requires standing, walking, bending, reaching, talking, hearing, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
  • Hearing requirements: Ability to hear people over the telephone and in person; hear noises in surrounding areas, i.e., forklifts in the warehouse for safety purposes.
  • Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
