Primary Role

The Communications Specialist will be a pivotal team member to support the five PAX programs with organizational communications strategy, planning, and implementation across four offices based in three countries, and growing. In collaboration with the Communications Manager, the Specialist will help maintain PAX website content, social media planning, posting and measuring. This position will also work with program subject matter experts, PAX leadership, and contractors to create publications and promote them to target audiences.

Location:

This position is hybrid, with Tuesday and Thursday each week in PAX’s Broomfield, CO office. No relocation allowance is offered for this role.

Primary Responsibilities

Content Creation & Messaging (35%)

  • Develop compelling written materials, including press releases, blog posts, newsletter content, and other communications collateral.
  • Craft engaging content for social media, website, and printed materials.
  • Maintain consistent messaging aligned with PAX’s mission and brand, and PAX programs’ messaging and brands.

Digital Marketing & Social Media (35%)

  • Manage PAX’s social media accounts, currently LinkedIn, X, and Bluesky, and other digital platforms, tracking engagement and adjusting strategies accordingly.
  • Assist with website updates to ensure information is current and impactful.
  • Assist with planning, scheduling, and implementing digital campaigns to increase engagement with PAX and PAX program prioritized audiences.

Graphics and Materials Development (20%)

  • Using existing branded assets, design graphics and videos on Canva to be used in social media posts
  • Develop communications collateral, including PowerPoint presentations, brochures, letters, template materials for stakeholders, and other collateral using Canva
  • Execute electronic newsletter and ad hoc emails through MailChimp, including template design and managing the database with support from the Communications Manager

Public Relations & Media Outreach (10%)

  • Develop and distribute press releases to promote key initiatives.
  • Cultivate relationships with target media outlets.
  • Assist in managing responses to media inquiries and coordinating interviews as needed.
  • Support engagement with “new media” including podcasts, newsletters, influencers, etc.

Collaboration & Strategy Implementation (Across all work responsibilities)

  • Support development, partnerships, and other strategic activities across PAX’s programs.
  • Coordinate with staff members to ensure consistent branding across all communications.
  • Monitor analytics and prepare reports to assess the effectiveness of communications activities.
  • Support and manage multiple contractors, including graphic design, web development, or others.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills And Competences

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, including communications, international development, etc.
  • Three to five years of communications experience with mission-driven organizations
  • Desired background:
  • International, cross-cultural professional experience
  • Passion for supporting high-impact programs
  • Affinity with ambiguity and problem solving
  • Multi-lingual, particularly Spanish and/or Mandarin

Physical Work Demands

  • Able to sit at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Able to bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis.
  • Able to lift and move up to 25 lbs regularly.
