Description

Chronicle Books seeks a mid-level Brand Designer to work with the Brand Design Director and Brand Design team to create innovative, well-designed brand and marketing materials that keep with the Chronicle Books aesthetic. This role has a focus on digital and online materials but does include some print materials.

Key Responsibilities: The Brand Designer will design and produce website graphics and landing pages, online ads, social media campaigns, custom emails, virtual trade show graphics, and digital sales materials from concept through production. They should be able to communicate in a clear, consistent, constructive, and positive manner, and they will collaborate with the Brand and Marketing staff to create the most effective brand and marketing materials possible, while working within existing brand guidelines and rules. In addition, they will prioritize and manage projects simultaneously while paying close attention to detail in design, preparation of mechanicals, and written communications.

The person in this role will develop, design, and produce digital and print assets, specialty promotional materials, and trade show booth graphics, with an eye towards systemized, sustainable workflows that allow other team members to step in and assist when needed. They will work with Marketing/Publicity, Sales, and Publishing Designers. In addition, they will research and investigate vendors, process existing covers, book pages and other graphics, attend weekly Brand meetings, and share information and expertise about design and branding trends.

Hiring Salary Range: $68,000 - $78,200. This range represents the anticipated low and high ends of the expected salary for this position and will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, an applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. This position is eligible for our profit share plan.

Schedule: Employees at Chronicle Books will follow a regular hybrid schedule in our San Francisco office of at least three (3) in-office days per week and up to five (5) in-office days per week, depending on project and business needs. Requirements

Applicants will need a B.F.A. in Graphic Design or its equivalent, three to five years of work experience in graphic design, including initial concept generation, through comps, presentations, and preparation of mechanical files. Strong typography skills and basic video and animation skills are a must. Knowledge of Premier and After Effects is preferred, as is a command of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator), as well as basic HTML & CSS skills. They should possess strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, as this role entails teamwork, collaboration, and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments simultaneously. Attention to detail is crucial, especially in communication and design.
