The Role:

Can you shape a narrative that earns attention and builds trust in a breakthrough category? As Director, Communications, you’ll coordinate messaging, media, and executive communications efforts for Fireworks internally, and externally. From product announcements to thought leadership to strategic storytelling, you’ll partner across the organization to hone, sequence, and deliver the messages that define who we are, what we stand for, and the value we bring to our customers.

You’ll work across product, marketing, and leadership to surface stories that matter, building visibility with developers, AI leaders, and enterprise audiences. This is a hands-on role, ideal for a creative communicator who’s ready to build a modern comms function from the ground up understanding the technical underpinnings of the AI market, while providing some delight and joy and what we say.

As one of the initial marketing team, you’ll get to make your mark in defining the overall marketing strategy and motion in a highly dynamic market. This role is initially an individual contributor role, with scope to lead teams as we grow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create. Define and evolve core narratives across product, company, customer, and industry themes; ensure consistency across channels and spokespeople
  • Build. Drive communications relations strategy securing coverage in relevant outlets and cultivating relationships with reporters, analysts, and influencers
    • Manage executive communications across speaking engagements, social platforms, and thought leadership content
    • Partner with marketing, product, and legal to manage company announcements, press moments, and comms readiness plans
    • Design our communication channels, voice and cadence
  • Execute. Sequence and co-ordinate a complex series of rapid launches, and technical information from engineering through to the customer
  • Measure. Monitor brand presence, media impact, and message resonance; provide insights to improve reach and effectiveness
  • Repeat. Build a repeatable playbook of activities for continuous improvement of communications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in communications, PR, or editorial roles, preferably in B2B tech or developer platforms
  • Proven ability to develop and pitch stories that land coverage
  • Experience supporting executives and managing company comms moments (launches, funding, product, etc.)
  • Deep understanding of media landscape across tech, AI, and developer audiences
  • Demonstrated “builder” mentality: self-motivation, excels at establishing processes, scaling programs, and bringing ideas to life
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication and influencing skills
  • Ability frequently travel for on-site event coordination
  • Exceptional attention to detail, commitment to excellence
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

Experience:

  • Success in positioning a high-growth company and building visibility in crowded or technical markets
  • Demonstrated remarkable creativity and thinking to deliver impactful, memorable messages
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market conversations, data and make data-driven decisions
  • Familiarity with AI, developer tools, or infrastructure technologies a plus

Total compensation for this role also includes meaningful equity in a fast-growing startup, along with a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package. Base salary is determined by a range of factors including individual qualifications, experience, skills, interview performance, market data, and work location. The listed salary range is intended as a guideline and may be adjusted.

Base Pay Range (Plus Equity): $175,000 USD - $220,000 USD
