Job Overview

Coopwood's Air Conditioning Inc is seeking a proactive and highly skilled Safety Coordinator to oversee and maintain workplace safety compliance for our Texas City operations. This role is critical in ensuring a safe and compliant work environment for all team members and subcontractors. The ideal candidate will possess recognized safety certifications, have in-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, and excel at hazard identification, incident investigation, and safety training.

As the Safety Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in developing safety strategies, conducting audits, and fostering a strong safety culture that aligns with our company's values and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead safety initiatives to ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct safety audits, hazard assessments, and behavior-based safety observations.
  • Manage and maintain all safety compliance documentation using systems such as ISNetworld and Veriforce.
  • Train personnel in safety policies, procedures, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Oversee permit-to-work systems and contractor safety performance.
  • Investigate incidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Act as the primary safety contact for site leadership, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Support emergency response planning and environmental compliance programs.

Qualifications

  • Required:
    • OSHA 30-Hour Certification (Construction or General Industry)
    • TWIC Card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)
    • Valid Driver's License (or Passport/Government ID if not driving onsite)
    • HASC Safety Council Card
    • Recognized safety certification (CSP, ASP, CHST, or OHST preferred)
    • Proven experience in safety coordination within construction, industrial, or oil & gas environments
    • Strong knowledge of hazard identification, incident investigation, and regulatory compliance
    • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Preferred:
    • Advanced safety certifications from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP)
    • OSHAcademy Oil and Gas Safety & Health Professional Program (233-hour) completion
    • Familiarity with refinery operations and turnaround safety protocols

Schedule

  • Monday - Thursday
  • 10-hour shifts (40 hours per week)

  • Based in Texas City, TX - Candidates must live within a 35-mile radius of the job site.
