Description

Heredia Therapy Group is currently looking to have a Psychological Assistant join our

team of diverse professionals as our practice continues to grow. As stewards of healing

and science, our practice strives to provide the highest quality of psychological services

to our community. We utilize a wide range of evidence-based assessment, counseling,

and skills training designed to meet the diverse needs of the Southern Californian

communities.

Under the supervision of a Licensed Psychologist, the psychological assistant will be

responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments and evaluations, including

formal psychological testing, clinical interviews, and recommendations for treatment

plan development for children, adolescents, young adults, and adults with suspected

mental health and developmental concerns.

This is a 100% in-person role. No remote possibility at this time.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Conduct clinical interviews with patients and/or family.
  • Complete biopsychosocial assessments to assist with diagnosing.
  • Ability to independently determine the most appropriate assessment battery for a

particular patient based on relevant history and reason for referral.

  • Conduct psychological screenings and comprehensive psychological assessments to

clarify diagnosis, evaluate differential diagnosis, and provide recommendations for

treatment and support services.

  • Administer measures of intelligence, attention/concentration, social behavior, and

other areas to assess for ADHD, anxiety, mood, intellectual and developmental

disability, and autism spectrum disorders.

  • Psychological assessments include test administration, scoring and interpretation,

and writing a comprehensive report.

  • Provide feedback, which includes summary and recommendations to patient and/or

family.

  • Provide appropriate support to patients/families during feedback sessions, including

explanation of the evaluation, processing results, and providing support where

needed to increase acceptance.

  • Provide weekly therapy sessions to some clients as needed.
  • Maintain clinical records and complete documentation in a timely manner in keeping

with professional standards of care.

  • Attend and actively participate in weekly testing supervision to consult regarding

patients and clinical concerns.

  • May be asked to travel to alternative locations as needed for business and client purposes.

Basic Qualifications

  • Pursuing a PhD/PsyD/EdD in Clinical, Counseling, Health or School Psychology from

an APA accredited training program

  • Will require a current valid registration as a Psychological Assistant with the Board of

Psychology of the State of California by start date

  • Valid NPI Registration

Requirements

Additional Qualifications:

  • Must be familiar with DSM-V as a means of diagnosing.
  • Demonstrate professional maturity and ethical integrity necessary for assuming

professional responsibilities.

  • Demonstrate commitment to quality of service, teamwork, and participation in a

highly interactive multidisciplinary agency.

  • Demonstrate ability to complete multiple tasks/objectives in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of social service agencies, state regulations, and APA standards as it

related to patient treatment, patient rights, and patient confidentiality.

  • Excellent time management and material organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills with both

patients and colleagues.

  • Ability to work in team-oriented environment.
  • Flexibility to respond to changing circumstances and priorities within the agency.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specialty training in psychological batteries, whether it be during doctoral program,

practicums, and/or internships.

  • Thorough knowledge of procedures for developmental and psychological evaluations

of young children through adulthood.

  • Extensive experience and knowledge in assessment of numerous domains of

functioning including the following: cognitive, attention, and

social/emotional/behavioral functioning.

  • Knowledge of psychological testing techniques, administration, and interpretation.
  • Has experience in assessing, diagnosing, and treating a broad range of mental health

and developmental concerns.

  • Accuracy in diagnosing patients and developing effective recommendations for

treatment.
