The NYC Parks Workforce Development unit partners with various city agencies to create employment programs for all New Yorkers. Our signature program, the Parks Opportunity Program (POP), provides innovative career assistance to Parks' transitional employment trainees, who gain paid work experience cleaning and greening parks throughout NYC. The Operations Unit is responsible for onboarding and training of seasonal workforce. This unit also handles daily operations of the facilities, uniforms and inventory, vehicles and equipment responsible for the Workforce Development Division to operate. Providing technical support, facilities needs, working with vendors and internal Parks Units to accomplish tasks.

Major Responsibilities

  • Under general direction, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, perform analytical and administrative work for the Workforce Development Operations Unit.
  • Utilize multiple databases to manage and process requests for the Workforce Development unit including Salesforce, AMPS, Financial Management System (FMS), eRequester, PassPort and other internal request systems.
  • Knowledge and ability to develop and manage database using Salesforce database, merging information from Access Database, excel and other systems.
  • Provide system administration support for Salesforce CRM to monitor onboarding, career services and daily operations for all Workforce Development units.
  • Analyze Workforce Development needs and storehouse Inventory periodically and purchase vehicles, equipment, and supplies as needed. Track and manage budget and perform accounting using ledger, receiving reports, work orders.
  • Assist with Workforce Development Onboarding and Basic Training needs providing administrative support and troubleshooting equipment and technical issues, vehicles & facilities needs and work orders.
  • Troubleshoot and understand technology and equipment functions, work with IT/ Telecomm and other resources to diagnose and resolve issues with tablets, phones, PCs and camera equipment.
  • Provide ongoing administrative support as needed for all offices, including recruiting and scheduling, serving as the liaison with other divisions and external partners and vendors.
  • Consistently provide excellent customer-service and quality work in all projects and interactions. Work on special assignments as directed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a closely related field. 2. Certified Associate in Project Management or Project Management Professional certification. 3. Excellent writing, analytical, organizational, communication and time management skills. 4. Understanding of web design, usability standards, web technologies and their practical application. 5. Strong background in software design, development and database management. 6. Experience with Salesforce system administration and development. 7. Experience managing the technical implementation of an enterprise asset management system. 8. A driver license valid in New York State.

Residency Requirement

Residency in New York City, Nassau, Orange, Rockland, Suffolk, Putnam or Westchester counties required for employees with over two years of city service. New York City residency required within 90 days of hire for all other candidates.
