Description

Join our team as a Mechanical Assembler specializing in the production of high-precision satellite transport containers and mechanical assemblies. This position focuses on assembling large, pre-fabricated aluminum and composite components using mechanical fastening methods, stabilization systems, and precision alignment per detailed technical drawings.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, thrives in a hands-on environment, and has experience working with sheet metal assemblies in a manufacturing setting. This is not an entry-level position; we are seeking individuals with strong blueprint reading skills and prior experience in mechanical or aerospace assembly.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble large metal satellite containers and related mechanical sub-assemblies according to engineering drawings, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Execute minor fabrication tasks such as drilling, trimming, and hardware installation on standard and custom components as required.
  • Conduct test fits, perform mechanical adjustments, and troubleshoot alignment or tolerance issues. Collaborate with engineering to resolve fitment discrepancies and provide Red Line feedback on documentation.
  • Perform in-process and final quality checks per documented procedures. Complete product photographs, cleanliness checks, and packaging preparation for delivery.
  • Support adherence to company quality and compliance systems including ISO 9001, ROHS, IPC standards, and ITAR regulations.
  • Conduct basic preventative maintenance on hand tools, shop equipment, and assist in the calibration of critical measurement devices.
  • Participate in product development builds, research projects, and continuous improvement initiatives for new product introduction (NPI).
  • Complete assigned assembly tasks within the standard times outlined in job travelers or quote workbooks while maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient work area.

KSAs

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in mechanical assembly, sheet metal fabrication, or similar skilled manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, mechanical drawings, and work instructions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in assembly or installation of large metal structures or enclosures.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and safely use ladders or lifts as needed.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality systems (preferred but not required).
  • Forklift certification or willingness to be trained (preferred).
