Description

Incorporated in 1955 and encompassing more than 454 acres, the Mt. Prospect Park District provides outstanding recreational programs, events, parks, facilities and services. With seven primary facilities and 27 neighborhood parks, the Park District is an integral part of a thriving multi-generational community. District open space includes two outdoor pools, biking and walking paths, a dog park and sizable space for outdoor athletic programming. The District covers over 11 square miles and serves a region of over a quarter million residents in Mount Prospect and surrounding communities.

We are searching for a part-time Youth Soccer Field Supervisor. The Youth Soccer Field Supervisor is responsible for supervising the District’s soccer fields primarily at Sunrise Park and Majewski Park. Responsibilities include but are not limited to opening up gates, setting up and cleaning up fields, greeting and assisting patrons, attending to injuries and monitoring the park while on duty. Candidates must be at least 16 years old, and be able to successfully pass a criminal background check. Typical days and hours for this position include Saturdays from 8:30 am-3 pm, Sundays with varying hours in the morning or evening, and Mondays from 5-7 pm. The starting pay rate for the Youth Soccer Field Supervisor is $15.00 per hour. District employees also receive facility privileges and discounts.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Supervise soccer games on Saturday and Sunday mornings, afternoons and/or evenings during the fall, winter, and spring seasons.

Be familiar with all District policies and procedures.

Report to work as scheduled. Arrive at the soccer fields 30 minutes before first scheduled game time wearing proper attire.

Inspect playing areas. Make sure fields are in safe playing condition. Set up game fields with appropriate equipment.

Open gates and washrooms upon arrival if applicable.

Watch the games, attend to any injuries and complete incident and situation reports thoroughly and accurately as required.

Clean up game fields and put equipment away. Close and lock the washrooms. Lock all the gates prior to departure if applicable.

Ensure patrons’ behavior at the park is appropriate.

Report equipment, facility or program issues to the Athletics Supervisor or Athletics Manager.

Attend staff meetings, training and special events as needed.

Secondary Duties

Maintain a neat and organized work area.

Additional Functions As Assigned Which May Be Considered Essential.

All other duties as assigned by the Athletics Supervisor, Athletics Manager, Superintendent of Recreation, Director of Recreation and/or the Executive Director. However, in an emergency, perform all other duties as required.

Qualifications

Must be at least 16 years old.

Must be familiar with the game of soccer.

Must be CPR/AED certified or attain certification within one (1) month of employment and maintain certification throughout employment.

Must be able to communicate effectively with others to allow for the coordination of work, safety, and in emergency situations if needed.

Must display good customer service skills. Must display a positive attitude in regards to the District and its employees, programs and patrons.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and/or must have access to transportation to travel to soccer fields within the District as needed.

Must be able to demonstrate good judgment and common sense. Must be able to recognize unsafe conditions and emergencies and respond accordingly.

Must be reliable and be able to work independently with limited supervision. Reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.

Must be able to abide by the guidelines and policies set by the District.

Must be able to stand, walk and/or sit for periods of time. Must be able to occasionally lift 50 pounds. Must be able to perform tasks that require bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and carrying of items.

May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions including heat, cold, humidity, sun, and rain.

The Youth Field Supervisor represents the District’s Athletic Department and its programs. It is very important that the Youth Field Supervisor conducts themselves in a professional manner at all times. The Youth Field Supervisor must display a positive attitude in regards to the Mt. Prospect Park District, its employees and programs. At no time may an employee make derogatory comments or use abusive language toward any participant, spectator or co-worker. All employees must abide by the guidelines and policies set by the District.

Due to the needs of the Park District, evening and weekend hours may be required. The work schedule may vary and the hours required may occasionally exceed regular work hours, but the total hours worked will be less than 1,000 hours per year.
