The Clinical Informatics Nurse serves as a strategic liaison between clinical teams, regulatory bodies, and technology partners to optimize the use of clinical systems and data to improve care outcomes, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency in skilled nursing facilities. This role integrates nursing science, quality improvement, analytics, and information technology to support clinical workflows, system configurations, and regulatory submissions.

Responsibilities:

EHR System Management & Optimization (PointClickCare)

  • Configure and optimize PCC modules (POC, EMAR, Document Manager, Risk Management, UDA, Orders, Care Plans, Lab, Templates).
  • Develop and maintain clinical how-to guides, system crosswalks, downtime procedures, and documentation policies.
  • Manage user access, new account setups, provider training, and sandbox resets.
  • Conduct training for new leaders, clinicians, and physicians on documentation workflows and order management.
  • Investigate and resolve login issues, system bugs, and workflow barriers.
  • Lead system updates, enhancements, audits, and integrations to align with regulatory and operational goals.


Regulatory & NHSN Reporting

  • Submit and track NHSN Annual Surveys, Flu Vaccination data, COVID updates, and resident positivity rates.
  • Maintain and update Vibe status boards with NHSN compliance and vaccine data.
  • Collaborate with AHCA, QIO, and survey teams on NHSN and compliance calls.
  • Lead preparation for CMS changes impacting documentation and data submission.


Survey & Compliance Readiness

  • Coordinate mock survey calendars, surveyor access, and landlord letter processes.
  • Manage survey data tracking tools including clinical operations reports and predictive risk tracking.
  • Support the creation and tracking of CMP plans, QAPI documentation, and Board Report preparation.


Data Analytics & Reporting

  • Manage and interpret data using Simple, SHP, and internal analytics tools for performance improvement.
  • Monitor and report on CMI, PHQ-9, MDS timeliness, late documentation, and polypharmacy trends.
  • Support reimbursement and regulatory analytics including audit trail reports, POC compliance, and bonus eligibility.
  • Maintain quarterly bonus tracking, CMI calculators, and reimbursement opportunity identification.


Health Information Management (HIM)

  • Coordinate HIM order review processes, audits, and technology troubleshooting.
  • Support onboarding and training for HIM staff on system workflows and order compliance.


Communication & Technical Support

  • Lead and participate in regular interdisciplinary calls with DNSs, IPs, EDs, MDS teams, and external vendors (Think Anew, Salude, PPHP, Everest, Luminate, etc.).
  • Serve as a point of contact for external provider integrations and facility cross-functional needs.
  • Manage communication platforms including distribution groups and Vibe accounts.


Qualifications:

Required:

  • LPN or RN Licensure (active and in good standing)
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in skilled nursing or post-acute care
  • Minimum 2 years experience in EHR configuration and clinical informatics (PCC preferred)
  • Strong understanding of CMS regulations, survey preparedness, and NHSN reporting
  • Advanced knowledge of clinical documentation workflows and interdisciplinary communication


Preferred:

  • Certification in Nursing Informatics or Health Information Management
  • Experience with analytics tools (Simple, SHP, Vibe, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Teams, and clinical documentation auditing
