A Day in the Life of a Water/Wastewater Engineer (EIT) at Hanson
Here’s a snapshot of what you would do in this role:
- Collaborate with licensed engineers to design water and wastewater infrastructure systems
- Design wastewater collection systems, sanitary lift stations, and treatment units (municipal/industrial)
- Design water distribution systems, booster pump stations, elevated storage tanks, and treatment units
- Produce plans, specifications, and technical reports
- Conduct hydraulic calculations, pump sizing, and modeling
- Manage permitting processes and support construction administration
- Apply the latest technologies and stay current with industry innovations
- Mentor junior staff and manage project tasks
- Other duties as assigned
We feel the following qualifications would set you up for success in this role:
Skills
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, WaterCAD, XPSWMM, and ArcGIS (preferred)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with TCEQ regulations (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or related engineering field
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience (3–4 years preferred)
- Fundamentals of Engineering (EIT) certification required
- Willingness to travel and work overtime as needed
- Valid driver’s license required
