Job Description

Purpose:

The Program Specialist I, under general supervision, assists in the development of center policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of center policies and procedures.
  • Assist with tracking and reporting of scholarship programs.
  • Assist with creation of content and updates to website; ensuring everything is up to date.
  • Assist with coordination of symposia, meetings, seminars, workshops, and continuing education courses.
  • Develop sponsor and exhibitor opportunities/strategies for corporate partners.
  • Create specialized program communications and marketing materials for international symposiums.
  • Research new products, events, and ideas in preparation for annual symposiums and find innovative ways to implement change.
  • Coordinate with proposal development to fund center.
  • Coordination Director/Associate Director travel, calendar, reimbursements and payments.
  • Organization and coordination of visiting scholars/faculty/or special guests: includes paper work, travel arrangements, and communication.
  • Tracking of Graduate student information and paperwork.
  • Arrange student travel for Center events.
  • Track/process reimbursements and payments of student travel.
  • Track Undergraduate and Graduate Safety Certificates.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center (MKOPSC) focuses on research to enhance safety in the chemical process industry. The center conducts research and develops undergraduate, graduate and continuing education programs. Its services to government and industry include independent accident investigation and analysis services, particularly for accidents suggesting new phenomena or complex technologies.
