Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, Inc. (MHIA) is looking for a Controls Engineer III to join our team. This is an onsite role based out of our Carrollton, TX office just outside of Dallas.

SCOPE:
The Controls Engineer III will design advanced monitoring and control systems for modular electrical, cooling, and backup power products designed for hyperscale/colocation data centers. The Controls Engineer III will Design, install, optimize, and adapt electronic control systems and instruments to automate and monitor processes for Data centers. This role will ensure our integrated solutions deliver high reliability, visibility, and compatibility with client DCIM/BMS systems.
The ideal candidate will have Minimum of five (5) years of controls design and programming experience.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems for packaged electrical/mechanical modules.
- Develop control logic, sequences of operations, network architectures.
- Ensure integration with client systems via standard protocols (Modbus, BACnet, SNMP).
- Program PLCs and HMIs using industry-standard platforms.
- Support factory acceptance tests (FAT), commissioning, and customer acceptance testing.
- Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers on complete system integration.
- Stay current on emerging data center trends in automation, AI/ML-enabled monitoring, and cybersecurity.
- Models, tests, and measures output and data to analyze performance or quality issues and develop solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- Education Requirement: B.A or B.S. in Electrical, Controls, or Automation Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of controls design and programming experience.
- Experience with PLC and HMI systems (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider).
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 7+ years’ experience in data center or mission-critical facility controls.
- Experience designing controls for modular/prefabricated systems.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for ICS/OT environments.
- PE License from any Jurisdiction
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Travel %: 20
- Standard Monday through Friday work week. Weekend/late night work if applicable.
- Lifting/physical requirements: Regularly required to sit for long periods, stand, walk, talk and/or hear Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
