Rock West, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Chief Investment Officer.

Rock West LLC, established in 2003, has grown into a thriving real estate enterprise valued at over $30M, generating $3M in annual rental income across 15 properties and 7 LLCs. The owners are embarking on an ambitious new chapter—developing a sustainable growth strategy with disciplined management and a clear mission: to transform the company into a multi-generational wealth engine.

Position Summary:

This role will lead the evaluation, optimization, and expansion of Rock West LLC real estate portfolio while ensuring operational efficiency, risk management, and long-term growth planning.

Essential Functions:

  • Re-underwrite and analyze each property to determine investment, development, or liquidation opportunities.

  • Review and reassess property and business expenses to implement cost-effective improvements.
  • Evaluate liabilities and risks for each property and across the business.
  • Review and recommend investment opportunities for securities accounts at Schwab, including credit facilities.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive annual investment plan aligned with company goals.
  • Establish and refine evaluation processes for new property acquisitions.
  • Manage current property development opportunities, options to purchase, and pending offers.
  • Oversee monthly financial reviews (Plan vs. Actual) and develop improvement strategies.
  • Lead quarterly board meetings, presenting portfolio performance and growth plans.
  • Ensure full corporate compliance and reporting requirements are met.
  • Craft and coordinate long-term growth strategies spanning 3, 5, and 50-year timelines.
  • Review and recommend changes for legal, accounting, banking, insurance, and tax services.
  • Collaborate with the Facilities Director on repair, maintenance, and property improvement planning.
  • Assist in estate planning initiatives to align ownership succession and long-term company objectives.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, Finance, Real Estate, or related field required.
  • Master’s degree in business administration or finance preferred.
  • Proven track record managing real estate portfolios, funds, or investments.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills with the ability to assess risk and ROI.
  • Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and portfolio performance metrics.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experienced with business management software.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to execute long-term growth initiatives.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills for reporting to ownership and stakeholders.
  • Self-starter with high adaptability, creativity, and commitment to the company mission.
