Flying Bark Productions is working on exciting projects such as Avatar: The Last Airbender feature film, Netflix's Stranger Things animated series, as well as our production Tales From Outer Suburbia by Shaun Tan.

We are looking for a highly organized and proactive Production Supervisor – Design to oversee the workflow, scheduling, and communication for the design department of our CG animated series. In this key production role, you will work closely with the Art Director, Character and Environment Designers, Modeling and Surfacing teams, and production management to ensure assets are delivered on time, on style, and within scope.

About the role:

  • Supervise the daily operations and schedules for the design department, including character, prop, and environment design.
  • Partner with the Art Director and design leads to prioritize assignments and track design progress.
  • Create and maintain detailed production schedules and asset trackers to ensure on-time delivery to downstream departments (modeling, surfacing, rigging).
  • Facilitate communication between the creative team and production, ensuring that feedback, notes, and updates are delivered accurately and efficiently.
  • Anticipate and troubleshoot bottlenecks or delays in the design pipeline; flag risks early and propose solutions.
  • Coordinate design reviews, approval sessions, and deadlines with directors, art leads, and executive teams.
  • Ensure all assets are delivered in the correct format, with proper labeling, documentation, and version control.
  • Support the design team with reference gathering, asset management, and interdepartmental handoffs.
  • Lead or support regular production meetings and provide clear status updates to production leadership.
  • Maintain a collaborative, calm, and solution-focused environment under tight deadlines.
  • Supervise and mentor department PAs


About you:

  • 3–5 years of experience in CG animation production, with at least 2 years in a coordinator or supervisor role.
  • Strong knowledge of CG design workflows, including how 2D designs translate into 3D assets.
  • Proficiency in production tracking tools (e.g., ShotGrid, FTrack, Airtable, or similar).
  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities across overlapping episodes or deliveries.
  • Experience working with remote and hybrid teams across different time zones.
  • Working knowledge of design software (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator) is a plus (not required for hands-on work).
  • Ability to lead, motivate and guide a team of artists
