REPORTS TO: Director of Federal Programs

SUMMARY: Assists the district in transporting qualifying students in need of transportation to and from school; related route planning and scheduling work as required.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • (Morning) Picks up students at specified locations and drops them off at school
  • (Afternoon) Picks up students from schools and drops them off at specified drop-off locations.
  • Plans transportation routes for pick up and drop off, based on information provided by McKinney-Vento, Foster Care, and Special Education
  • Maintains a daily vehicle inspection log
  • Maintains a clean and organized district vehicle
  • Supports the McKinney Vento program, as needed
  • Arranges vehicle maintenance in coordination with the Nampa School District facilities department, as needed
  • Attends faculty meetings as required
  • Assumes responsibility for his or her continuing professional growth and development through such efforts as reading professional journals and other publications
  • Seeks assistance should emergencies arise
  • Represents the school district in a positive manner
  • Knows and follow school district policy and chain of command
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education And/Or Experience

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required

Certificates, Licenses, Registration

  • Valid Idaho Driver’s License
  • One year of warehouse, delivery, and inventory experience preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English), preferred

Communication Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students and/or employees of the district.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exits. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Employee must be able to perform heavy physical labor for sustained periods, following appropriate procedures; moving or lifting 50 pounds regularly and 75 pounds occasionally.
