Summary

The Technical and Maintenance Manager will lead a team ensuring the reliability and optimal performance of all equipment including automated equipment and electrical systems by overseeing maintenance, repairs, and improvements, while adhering to safety protocols and industry standards.

Skills And Qualifications

  • Reviews job orders to determine work priorities.
  • Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
  • Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, cooling, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operations.
  • Develops preventive maintenance program in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff.
  • Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Batching technology, Liquid Filling Equipment, Packaging machines, electrical systems and automation equipment.
  • Maintain proper documentation, including temperature logs, system pressures, oil levels, and safety equipment checks.
  • Operate and monitor ammonia refrigeration systems (NH₃) in compliance with PSM (Process Safety Management) and RMP (Risk Management Plan) regulations.
  • Conduct daily inspections of refrigeration equipment including compressors, condensers, evaporators, valves, and controls.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues in the ammonia system.
  • Support emergency response plans, leak detection, and system isolation as needed.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks according to the manufacturer and facility standards.
  • Assist with start-up and shutdown procedures of refrigeration equipment in coordination with bottling schedules.
  • Ensure all safety equipment (e.g., SCBA, gas detectors, ventilation systems) is functional and properly maintained.
  • Train in and comply with OSHA, EPA, and facility safety standards including lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space, and hot work procedures.
  • Support plant-wide maintenance and utility tasks as needed, including HVAC, compressed air, and water system.
  • Manage and direct a team of maintenance personnel.
  • Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide technical guidance and training.
  • Organize and schedule maintenance activities, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
  • Directs training and indoctrination of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures.
  • Manage the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical systems, automation equipment, and related machinery.
  • Conduct regular inspections and evaluations of equipment to identify potential problems and ensure optimal performance.
  • Develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and equipment failures.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and automation system issues, implementing effective solutions.
  • Manage and oversee electrical and automation projects, including installation, upgrades, and expansions.
  • Develop project plans, budgets, and timelines, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to create a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits, addressing any identified hazards.
  • Analyze equipment performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Stay current with industry trends and technologies, implementing best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, management, and other departments.
  • Participate in meetings and collaborate with other teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Document maintenance activities and project progress, maintaining accurate records.
  • Associates Degree in related field; or four (4+) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment including electrical and automation systems.
  • Expertise in reading and interpreting Mechanical & electrical schematics and blueprints.
  • Excellent with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and other automation technologies.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a team.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Ammonia System: CARO Certified

  • Source, negotiate, and manage third-party contractors for specialized repairs and services.
  • Prepare and manage the maintenance department budget, including labor, parts, and outside services.
  • Review invoices for accuracy and ensure cost-effective maintenance practices.

Project & Asset Management

  • Manage capital improvement and equipment upgrade projects from planning to completion.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment, warranties, service contracts, and repair history.
  • Monitor and manage spare parts inventory to avoid production delays.

Education, License & Requirements

  • Must have 3 years supervisory experience
  • PLC programming experience
  • Bi-Lingual Spanish strongly desired.
