Ocean Export Department Manager (Fixer, Builder, Leader)
Location: On-site | Full-time
Are you the person leadership calls when a department needs fixing, not just managing?
We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on, high-impact Ocean Export Department Manager to lead and transform our export operations. This isn’t a maintenance role—it’s a high-stakes leadership opportunity for someone who knows how to walk into a complex operation, assess the state of play, and rebuild systems, teams and processes to create a best-in-class department.
If you come from a freight forwarding or logistics operations background, and you've had to turn around broken systems, develop people, and reestablish process discipline, this is the kind of challenge you’ve likely been looking for. If you’re the kind of professional who thrives under pressure, builds strong teams, and knows how to lead through operational chaos into clarity, you’ll be well-compensated for your impact with both financial upside and career growth.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
● Full operational leadership of the Ocean Export Department, including day to day operations, team development, process improvement, and client outcomes
● Evaluate and restructure current workflows, systems, and SOPs
● Lead, train, and mentor a team—setting clear expectations and accountability
● Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including ISO9001
● Develop performance benchmarks and drive improvements in both internal operations and customer service delivery
● Engage directly in customer retention and development through proactive outreach and solution-oriented support
● Oversee billing accuracy, vendor relations, and margin protection
● Identify and implement new system enhancements or upgrades
What We’re Looking For
● Leadership experience in international freight forwarding or logistics operations
● Proven success in turning around underperforming departments or building new operational processes from the ground up
● Strong knowledge of ocean export procedures, documentation, steamship line relationships, and transportation modalities
● Deep understanding of compliance, billing, and operational systems within a freight forwarding environment
● Hands-on leadership style with a clear bias for action and accountability
● Confidence working across teams and departments, driving both operational and customer-facing excellence
● Hazmat Certification required
● Experience with CargoWise or similar freight systems is strongly preferred
Important:
● This is an on-site role
● Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required
