About the role:

NOTE: This role is a Durham, NC based role. Candidates will be expected to be in our Durham, NC office 2-3 days per week.

Pluto Health is seeking a highly motivated and experienced People Operations Manager to join our team. As the People Ops Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources and talent management to support the organization's growth and cultivate a positive and productive work environment. You will work closely with leadership to develop and implement HR strategies that align with the company's overall objectives. This role requires a strong understanding of HR best practices, excellent communication skills, and a passion for promoting an inclusive and high-performing workplace culture.

What you’ll do:

We are a startup so directives may shift at any moment. However, some primary responsibilities we envision include:

  • Lead the development and implementation of HR policies and initiatives that are aligned with the company's objectives and values. This includes collaborating with leadership to set standards, researching best practices, and providing recommendations.
  • Manage employee relations by providing guidance and support to managers and employees, investigating and resolving issues, and ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee performance management by setting performance expectations, conducting performance reviews, supporting managers in performance improvement plans, and addressing performance-related issues.
  • Develop and implement effective talent acquisition and retention strategies ensuring a diverse and inclusive workforce.
  • Partner with business leaders to identify opportunities to optimize organizational effectiveness and drive business outcomes, ensuring appropriate development opportunities for employees.
  • Conduct regular employee surveys to identify trends and areas for improvement. Analyze survey data and provide insights to business leaders and HR teams. Create action plans to address identified areas for improvement.
  • Deliver effective HR training programs to develop and enhance employee skills, promote employee engagement, and support cultural alignment. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams for training sessions and modules.
  • Foster a high-performance culture and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to HR policies and practices. Partner with our ASO partner to stay up to date relevant employment laws and regulations and maintain HR policies in accordance with legal requirements.

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • At least 7 years of experience in HR
  • Proven experience in a similar HR leadership role, preferably in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Proficient in HR software and systems, preferably Rippling
  • Strong knowledge of HR best practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in successful talent acquisition and retention strategies.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • HR certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR) is a plus.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification is preferred.
