Job Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist I performs routine repairs and maintenance of facilities. The position uses hand and power tools to perform basic building repairs that may include carpentry, painting and/or plumbing repairs, and is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient working environment for all staff and visitors at CHC facilities. The position will require the ability to travel between CHC facilities. The position requires daily tasks to be completed in the CMMS software.

Education

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

Experience

  • Previous commercial building maintenance experience (1 year).

Preferred

  • Familiarity in working in medical facilities/clinics.

Other

  • Driver's license with the State of Washington.
  • Motor vehicle insurance liability policy, a certificate of deposit, or a liability bond to the required limits.

Job Specific Functions/Performance

  • Demonstrates the ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Identifies and troubleshoots facility related repair issues.
  • Completes basic maintenance tasks and performs tasks prescribed in the Preventative Maintenance Plan.
  • Completes routine painting of facilities, including basic wall patching.
  • Follows safety procedures for the use of chemical cleaners, power equipment, ladders, and other equipment as necessary.
  • Notifies managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to the building operating systems.
  • Assists in the preparation for visitors and special events at clinic locations.
  • Aids in the response to emergency repair situations as a result of leaks, spills, power outages, or other unexpected events.
  • Assists in employee moves and the arrangement or relocation of office furniture.
  • Administers the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) including scheduling and prioritizing work orders, arranging for vendor support, and analysis of work completed.
  • Adheres to attendance standards in order to perform the job functions for daily operations and/or continuity of patient care.
  • Updates the Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • As needed, provides coverage for breaks, lunches and PTO.
  • Provides assistance for ensuring protocols are followed and seeks counsel from Facilities Manager for more complex problems.
