Job Summary: Trinchero Family Estates is looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer to support Trinchero Family Estates in driving analytical maturity and achieving business objectives. This role will take a leading role among fellow IT and Business Intelligence team members to refine and improve dev ops processes and measures to guide data pipeline and data modelling quality, scalability and maintainability. You will bring best practice expertise in building sustainable BI solutions. This role is expected to work with users in the business area to elicit requirements for analytic datasets and related applications; and subsequently design and deploy solutions that are aligned with corporate governance standards and strategic objectives. The BI Engineer will be responsible for working closely with Business Area Customers, Business Analysts, Developers, BI Platform vendors and Consultants to deliver solutions. Essential Functions:

To identify, define, design, and implement business information systems in an efficient manner and support the business users in the effective use of technology supporting business objectives.

  • Implement dev ops workflows in collaboration with Business Intelligence team members; with a drive to improve code quality and data productization:
    • Release management across Dev/QA/Prod environments
    • Testing protocol and automation
    • Automated data validation
  • Administration of Business Intelligence resources
    • Monitor Microsoft Fabric capacity
    • Data Gateway
    • Develop effective data pipelines to extract and transform data into valuable data products
    • Lead the necessary investigation, functional analysis, and evaluation to determine and implement BI Reporting/Dashboard solutions as needed to meet user and business needs.
    • Execute quantitative analyses that translate data into actionable insights. Provide analytical data-driven decision-making support for key projects
    • Ability to analyze and derive insights from large datasets, extending data with third party sources of information when needed.
    • Develop BI taxonomy standards for classification of data. Educate and establish review process for improvement.
    • Skilled manipulating, transforming, and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources including testing and validation
    • Create engaging data visualizations that support analysis and decision-making
    • Lead in projects as a data consultant, and as needed, help develop and recommend alternative approaches to project issues that balance technical and operational feasibility.
    • Lead through high level data flow charts, documentation, and presentations showing data design, scope and resources required for management to obtain approval.
    • Provide detailed documentation and/or presentations for users on solution design for approval and testing.
    • Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft PowerBI analytics platform (Power Query, AS Tabular Modeling, DAX, Power BI Visualizations, Power BI Service) with expertise in designing analytic datasets, reports, dashboards and other artifacts using this toolset.
    • Strong hands-on experience with data warehousing, data modeling, dashboarding, and reporting with very large datasets and multiple data sources, with ability to interpret data and produce meaningful insights.
    • Maintain and enhance documentation of data standards, process flows and data usage within the business and actively document Trinchero's data analytics environment.
    • Identify potential improvements to processes or systems for possible implementation.
    • Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle.
    • Maintain project records and status reports, as well as a record of changes and additions to the system in order to provide an audit trail for subsequent use.
    • Strict adherence to standards and procedure and ability to contribute to the creation of new ones.
    • Skilled in SQL and Analysis Services(AS) tabular Development including design, planning, implementation and administration of complex databases/AS models to support reporting via Power BI/Excel. Experience using SQL and AS tabular development tools: SSMS, DaxStudio, TabularEditor, ALM Toolkit.
    • Experience with MS Power Platform services to enable data analysis, automation, and custom applications: Power BI, Fabric, Power Automate, Power Apps.
    • Experience with Machine Learning and AI algorithms to enrich analysis.
Preferred Functions:

  • Experience in the consumer package goods industry preferred. Wine and/or alcohol beverage industry experience a plus.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in an analytic/BI development or app development.
  • 7+ years proven modelling experience with Business Intelligence tools (PowerBI, SSAS, or comparable).
  • Precise, detail oriented, analytical, and deadline driven, with the ability to work under pressure. Must take initiative and work with a high level of professionalism.
  • Able to comprehend and synthesize project requirements into a plan of action, facilitating the agreement of managers and co-workers on project needs through discussion, training and hands-on demonstration.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected - Ability to work well both independently and in a team, collaborating with developers, and mentoring those who wish to learn.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills; comfortable explaining technical topics to non-technical users.
  • Ability to work with confidential information on a regular basis.
  • Must have good organizational skills and the ability to follow-through on projects with minimal supervision.
  • Bachelor's degree in MIS, Data Science, Computer Science or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Primary work location: Hybrid remote, or on-site (Napa, CA)

Salary Range: $96,400.00 - $144,600.00

The starting pay will be based on several factors, including but not limited to experience, training, education, and geographic location.
