Job Summary

Primary responsibility of this position is assigning beds for all incoming patients and in-house transfers. Accurate knowledge and expertise in the bed management system is required. Critical thinking skills and basic knowledge of patient diagnoses is required in order to ensure that patients are admitted to the most appropriate bed available to meet their clinical needs. This individual must be able to work collaboratively with the clinical leaders from all areas including House Supervisors, Bed Flow Coordinators, Access Care Managers, Patient Care Unit Managers, Charge Nurses, Physicians and Leadership. The Advanced Access Coordinator coordinates logistical activities of critical patient flow. This individual must possess open communication skills be able to articulate and collaborate with all levels of staff, especially the nurses on the nursing units. Must be able to assess and navigate the hospital's patient census at all times providing critical decision making skills to mitigate need for diversion. The Advanced Access Coordinator engages key decision makers to facilitate discussions regarding surge issues and if necessary places the appropriate calls related to Divert status as advised by the RN Command Center Manager, Director or VP of Phoebe Care Command. In addition to the bed management responsibilities the Advanced Access Coordinator is able to perform the other non-clinical duties in Phoebe Care Command including but not limited to Central Transport Coordinator, Patient Registration, EVS Coordinator and EMS Transport duties. The Adv. Access Coordinator guides the activities of the non-clinical staff on a daily basis leading the appropriate huddles. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision, and values of Phoebe. Qualifications

High School Diploma required

Work Experience

1 Year Healthcare Experience Required

3 years call center, customer service, physician practice, high volume business required

Licenses and Certifications

Certified Patient Account Representative (CPAR) preferred

Essential Functions

ADVANCED PATIENT ACCESS ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS:

Must be proficient in time management and identifying priorities.

Analyze and disseminate physician orders to appropriately match services to the planned admission.

Responsible for educating patients and designated individuals on their rights and responsibilities as a hospital patient.

Securing all federal and state mandated forms (i.e., self-pay forms, Joint Commission, HIPAA, Advance Directives, waivers, Advance Beneficiary Notices, Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire, etc.).

Instrumental in verifying eligibility of insurance and other forms of reimbursement along with collecting money due at the point of service.

Clinical Clerical Support

Serves as a clerical support for the Access Care Managers, EC Care Managers and the Procedural Care Manager.

Keep transport center stocked with needed supplies for the Central Intake/Access Unit.

Maintain resource and process manuals for the Central Intake/Access Unit.

Ability to multi-task without loss of efficiency.

Maintains the Transfer and Diversion logs or other Access Center related data.

Within scope of role, follows and complies with relevant EMTALA regulations.

Technology And Equipment Use

Demonstrates technical skill in using equipment appropriate for role.

Understands equipment operation.

Maintains equipment in working order.

Troubleshoots equipment problems.

Uses technology to increase productivity. Adapts to new technology

Documentation & Accuracy

Documents and submits required information and data in a timely fashion with close attention to detail

Clearly and accurately documents designated processes, policies, products, service offerings, etc.

Ensures that documentation is tailored to expected readers / users.

Uses correct terminology.

Conforms to required style and format.

Accepts the physician's verbal order for diagnostic testing and completes the required physicians order form making sure that the type of test and diagnosis are listed

Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.

Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs.

For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills.

Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
