The Director of Technical Services and Training serves as the technical expert and on call support of all operations and managements systems across the Niman Ranch Sow Farms.

The Director of Technical Services and Training serves as the technical expert and on call support of all operations and managements systems across the Niman Ranch Sow Farms.
Principal And Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure all team members adherence to all Niman Ranch production standards and expectations.
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for technology systems across the farms (Maximus Software, Ventilation systems, Nedap/Velos, Gestal, etc.). Manage, troubleshoot, and optimize where possible.
- Responsible for the development, implementation, training, documentation, and adherence to all standard operating procedures.
- Responsible for gestation and lactation feed curve plans and body condition score optimization.
- Serve as a leader and role model for safety initiatives and training.
- Continually seek process improvement opportunities across the system.
- Ensure nutrient management plan adherence at all farms.
- Lead cross training initiatives across the farm system.
- Lead monthly on-site training programs; team and individual based.
- Serve as on-site support/back up during periods of leadership transition at the farms.
- Responsible for gilt flows into the Isolation Units and Sow Farms – inventory and health management, grading, age optimization, and records management.
- Any other duties as assigned, requested, or directed by management/supervisor.
- B.S. degree in Animal Science or related field, with a minimum of five-year’s experience in straw-bedded pork production system/farrowing unit, OR minimum of ten years’ experience in traditional pork production/farrowing unit.
- Evidence of ability to lead by example, lead leadership development strategies, implement and enforce SOPs’, and manage a team of 2-4 people.
- Bilingual – Spanish/ English; both written and spoken
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to problem solve, be a critical thinker, goal oriented, and a team player.
- Travel Requirement for this position: 50%
