Horizon Hobby is seeking a full-time Photographer to join our Creative team. The Photographer plays an essential role in communicating the excitement of the radio control hobby through images that reach a worldwide audience of RC enthusiasts. In the studio and on location, you’ll use your skills to capture the realism and performance of detailed scale vehicles, plus a wide variety of other products and accessories. You’ll also travel to events across the country to document the thrills of competition and the camaraderie of the RC lifestyle.

The successful candidate must be a self-motivated, creative thinker who is able to demonstrate excellent time management and problem-solving skills. This role is a full-time on-site position.

Typical pay for this position is $68,640 a year. The final offer for this position will be based on the unique experience and qualifications of the candidate selected. This position may also be eligible for a bonus not included in the base pay range.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Ensure that imagery output exceeds industry standards and expectations.
  • Schedule and coordinate product lifestyle photo shoots with models, RC drivers
  • Take responsibility for all aspects of the technical, aesthetic, and production requirements of a photoshoot.
  • Meet deadlines and manage tasks with minimal oversight.
  • Scout possible photo shoot locations.
  • Be flexible enough to shift priorities quickly when needed.
  • Collaborate with product development, brand management, and graphic designers.
  • Oversee brand standards, lighting technique, and image quality.
  • Organize and tag images in Digital Asset Management System.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and perform minor repairs to photo equipment.
  • Light video editing – working with raw video footage to cut, trim and sequence footage into polished videos.

Education And/or Experience

  • 3-5 years’ experience in studio/photo industry.
  • Product photography experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency using DSLR or professional style mirrorless cameras.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite required, including Photoshop, Lightroom and Premier
  • Experience with Adobe After Effects is a plus.
  • Knowledge of natural lighting, indoor and studio lighting techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds independently.
  • Must be able to move and hold camera equipment for long periods.
  • Some travel, overnight and weekends will be required.
