Job Summary
The Pharmacy Director is responsible for overall management of pharmacy services at designated both inpatient and ambulatory settings.
Supports, and is responsible for incorporating into job performance, the Frederick Health (FH) mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy and adheres to the FH Compliance Program, including following all regulatory requirements and the FH Standards of Behavior.

Physical Demands
Light Work - Lifting up to 20 pounds on an infrequent basis (less than one lift every three minutes and/or carrying up to 10 pounds, or requiring walking or standing to a significant degree (about six [6] hours a day).
Ergonomic Risk Factors
Repetition: Repeating the same motion over and over again places stress on the muscles and tendons. The severity of risk depends on how often the action is repeated, the speed of the movement, the required force and muscles involved.
Awkward Posture: Posture is the position your body is in and its effect on the muscle groups that are involved in the physical activity. Awkward postures include repeated or prolonged reaching, twisting, bending, kneeling, squatting, working overhead with your hands or arms, or holding fixed positions.

Pay is based on experience, skills and education. If position is part-time, salary will be pro-rated based on scheduled hours. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on specialty if applicable. Non-Exempt positions may have shift differential and/or Overtime paid, if applicable.

Example Of Essential Functions
- Working with and through subordinate supervisors and staff, the Director develops and implements an operational plan that is aligned with the strategic plan of the healthcare system.
- S/he is responsible for ensuring that all pharmaceutical care and regulatory standards are implemented and practiced in accordance with the State and Federal regulations and USP 797.
- The Director serves as a member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, participates in patient safety committees and takes a leadership role in quality and process improvement initiatives.
- The Director manages the human, financial, and material resources of the department and is responsible for integrating pharmacy services into the health systems overall operations.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills
- Must be able to work with others in a professional, coaching manner.
- Knowledgeable and proficient in assessing the use and application of new technology, including complex equipment and medication delivery systems
- Problem solving and analytical thinking required
- Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelors of Science and an advanced professional degree (e.g. MBA or Masters of Health Care Administration) or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Maryland Pharmacist licensure of eligible to reciprocate required.
- Clinical certification or process Improvement (Six Sigma or Lean Healthcare), preferred.
- Minimum 5 years hospital experience required. Previous manager experience required.
