Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic Human Resources Generalist to join our team. The is a key role in executing core HR functions while contributing to initiatives that drive team member engagement. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn the casino business, understand operational drivers, and align HR practices to support a high-performance, guest-focused culture.

Key Job Functions

  • Perform human resources functions including, but not limited to team member relations, HR compliance, and team member engagement. Support and assist with the recruiting and hiring process, as needed.
  • Establish credibility and trust by building professional relationships with team members to understand challenges and opportunities. Collaborate with department leaders to understand business goals and workforce needs.
  • Proactively learn the casino’s operations, guest service standards, and regulatory environment.
  • Serve as a point of contact for team member inquiries and concerns.
  • Act swiftly to address team member concerns; conduct comprehensive investigations and recommend appropriate action based on company policy, procedure, and employment laws. Follows up with departments to ensure compliance.
  • Provide advice and direction to management regarding the interpretation, application and administration of the Company policies, current legislation, and employment law. Assist with the creation of documentation, memos, and department policies. Provide guidance to leadership on termination processes.
  • Represent the Company at personnel related hearings, investigations and unemployment hearings.
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase engagement, productivity, and retention.
  • Champion a positive workplace culture through engagement initiatives, events, and recognition.
  • Work independently to meet deadlines and be flexible in managing multiple and shifting priorities while maintaining sensitive and confidential issues responsibly and professionally.
  • Utilize HRIS systems to process HR transactions. Responsible for maintaining accurate records and supporting data integrity.
  • Act as a resource for team member benefits questions and as a property liaison with corporate benefits, Team Member Service Center (ESC) & Caesars Benefits Service Center (BSC) on escalated team member situations.
  • Work with third-party leave management administrator to ensure timely management of leaves of absence. Ensures compliance and completion of accommodation requests.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Performs any other job-related duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

  • Two years of Human Resources or equivalent experience required.
  • One to two years of Human Resources experience in a hospitality or gaming environment (preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field (preferred).
  • Bilingual Spanish (preferred).
  • Knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

  • Must possess the ability to use deductive reasoning and analytical/critical thinking skills when working with departments on investigations, including sensitive issues such as the ability to uphold and demonstrate the highest level of integrity in all situations and recognize standards required by a regulated business.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Must demonstrate ability to make decisions, be objective, and handle difficult team member issues.
  • Ability to exercise tact, diplomacy and good judgment in a highly confidential and sensitive environment.
  • Ability to maintain a professional attitude during stressful situations, while handling complex emotional issues, and difficult conversations.
  • Must possess strong communication (written & verbal) both in one-on-one and group settings.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have excellent active listening, conflict management and negotiation skills.
  • Strong ability to set priorities, organize workload, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks and projects.

Work Environment

  • Must be able to work varied shifts, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Must qualify for, obtain, and maintain a gaming license from the Illinois Gaming Board.
  • Must be able to maneuver to all areas of the property.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 lbs. and carry up to 10 lbs., and occasionally lift/carries up to 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend, reach, kneel, twist and grip items while working at assigned desk area.
  • Must have manual dexterity and coordination to operate office equipment, including a phone, computers/laptops/tablets, fax machine and photocopier.
  • Must be able to tolerate areas containing dust, loud noises, and bright lights.
  • Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
  • Must be able to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • Must present a well-groomed appearance.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
