The FTE for this role is an annualized .775 FTE and follows the school schedule.

The Medical Clinical Director (CD) of the school-based medical program provides clinical leadership for medical services provided within school-based locations operated by Community Health Center of Snohomish County (CHC) including directing daily operations and school-based medical clinicians in accordance with current federal, state,

and local standards and regulations. The CD coordinates patient care, partnerships, and program direction in partnership with the school-based Program Manager, Business Development Director, and CHC Leadership. The CD will help organize, plan, and implement growth and expansion opportunities including the clinical scope of care

provided in school-based locations and/or increasing the reach of school-based services in additional locations or through site partnerships within school districts. In addition to leadership responsibilities, the CD also provides medical care to school-aged children within school-based locations in accordance with the State of Washington

Department of Licensing and their professional scope of practice. As a provider, the Clinical Director is responsible for the documentation of care provided as well as indirect care related to communicating with parents/guardians and/or co-located service providers as appropriate and required. School-based providers typically operate without

a Medical Assistant and are responsible for vaccine compliance, lab result notification and supporting clinic and equipment formulary and inventory.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience working in a school-based or community-based setting providing primary medical services
  • Read, speaks, understand and writes proficiently in English.
  • Works effectively in a team environment.
  • Works independently and is self-directed.
  • Organizes, prioritizes, and coordinates multiple activities and tasks.
  • Works with initiative, energy and effectiveness in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-solves with creativity and ingenuity.
  • Remains calm and effective in high pressure and emergency situations.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications; Word, Excel and Outlook.

Preferred:

  • Bilingual skills.

Education

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree as a Physician Assistant; or Registered Nurse with a master’s degree or post Master’s Certificate as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP); or Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an Accredited School of Medicine or Osteopathy

Preferred:

  • Education and/or training in specialized care such as family practice, pediatrics, obstetrics.

Experience

  • Experience working in a school-based or community-based setting providing medical services (1 year).

Preferred:

  • Experience as a practicing clinician (2 years).
  • Not less than .5FTE equivalency of patient care within field of training within the past year
  • CDT-4 coding experience.
  • ICD-10 coding experience.
  • Healthcare information systems, such as electronic health record and practice management systems experience.
  • Working with low income, multi-ethnic populations and patients of all ages.
  • Familiarity with federally qualified health center or FQHC “look alikes.”
  • Experience with and passion for working with school-aged children.

Credentials

  • Physician Assistant licensure, with prescriptive privileges with the State of Washington; or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) license, with prescriptive privileges with the State of Washington; or Physician License (MD/DO) with the State of Washington.
  • DEA controlled substances registration.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CPR/AED) certification.
  • Successful completion of CHC’s credentialing and privileging review upon hire and recredentialing as

appropriate

Other:

  • Driver's license with the State of Washington.
  • Motor vehicle insurance liability policy, a certificate of deposit, or a liability bond to the required limits.

  • Assures the services of school-based locations are provided to patients according to CHC standards.
  • Participates in identifying and resolving day-to-day operational problems in collaboration with program and

organizational leadership and site partners.

  • Collaborates with program and organizational leadership to develop and implement long-term plans and

budgets of the program.

  • Facilitates quality improvement activities at the program level and support the creation and implementation of

school-based location specific Policies and Procedures

  • Informs the Regional Medical Director of provider performance issues, as needed.
  • Provides clinical and personnel supervision to school-based medical clinicians.
  • Excels in working with school age children around their healthcare need
  • Communicates with parents/guardians regarding student/patient care

  • Demonstrates ability to develop and maintain relationships with community partners
  • Coordinates delivery of care with appropriate clinical staff and community partner staff to ensure quality of care is met.
  • Provides preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic medical care to school aged children and their families in accordance with the State of Washington Department of Licensing and within their scope of practice and in alignment with CHC requirements.
  • Instructs patient and/or family regarding medications and treatment instructions. Promotes medical care through direct patient care and education.
  • Identifies special needs of community partner patients and works with staff to address those needs.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities contained in the job description for a Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Physician, depending on specific credentials.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities contained in the job description for a Clinical Director – Medical in primary care.
  • Provides personnel and clinical supervision to other medical clinicians who work in any school-based location including managing hiring, onboarding, training, clinical skill assessment, and performance management.
  • Travel between sites, flexible hours, and the potential for evening and weekend events.
  • Adheres to attendance standards in order to perform the job functions for daily operations and/or continuity of patient care.
