Position Summary
Reporting to the Vice President, Global Talent, the Sr. Director of Talent Acquisition will play a key role in furthering Structure’s growth and success. This individual will champion Structure’s culture, steer impact hires across the organization, inspire the TA team, drive the employer brand, and manage key TA systems and tools. Whether coaching clients on TA strategies, navigating and resolving supply and demand issues, or creating and implementing unique programs to set Structure apart, this individual will demonstrate an uncanny ability to prioritize and attract exceptional talent. Furthermore, this leader will clearly understand every aspect of Structure’s business and serve as a thought leader on required skillsets and strategies to acquire specific, in-demand talent. In keeping with Structure’s culture, the Head of TA will also have an opportunity to be hands-on, working side-by-side with the team to execute on a variety of critical recruiting initiatives and related projects.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
During the opening months on the job, the Sr. Director of Talent Acquisition will be expected to focus on the following objectives:

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Define, develop, and maintain a TA roadmap, along with supporting initiatives, to build a full lifecycle process; establish sourcing and recruiting research strategies to create a viable, sustainable talent pipeline -- ensuring Structure will meet current and future workforce needs.
- Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of Structure’s business, along with the competitive marketplace, in order to provide recruitment counsel and guidance to HRBPs and business leaders on specific talent needs within their group.
- Deploy creative solutions in identifying top talent, including the effective use of social networking and academic research tools, as well as leveraging traditional sourcing techniques (e.g., company website, job boards, career fairs, university relations, and employee referrals).
- Ensure a strong evaluation and screening process that filters only candidates with the highest possible caliber and fit to the organization.
- Hire, onboard, lead, develop, and retain talent on the TA team to support the entire organization; provide guidance to ensure delivery on all goals and metrics while maintaining very high levels of client satisfaction.
- Set the company-wide TA budget and establish key TA goals each year.
- Manage or otherwise closely oversee executive recruiting, selection, and onboarding.
- Assume an enterprise leadership approach via contributing critical insights and perspective into the strategies and plans of other disciplines within the People function; help ensure Structure stays at the forefront of the industry and is known as a great place to work/employer of choice.
- Ensure appropriate use of metrics to assess recruiting status, including quality, diversity, hiring cycle time, cost per hire, turnover, competitive hiring measures, and new hire engagement; refine and develop these key recruitment metrics and measure ROI impact to the broader organization.
- “Own” relationships with external consultants, contract recruiters, placement agencies, conference sponsors, and career websites.
During the opening months on the job, the Sr. Director of Talent Acquisition will be expected to focus on the following objectives:
- Demonstrate vision and leadership in helping design, develop, and execute a TA roadmap; establish oneself as a domain expert and win the trust and respect of key stakeholders, in both the US and China, by forming a reputation as a strategic and highly productive partner.
- Effectively perform a gap analysis on all existing processes, programs, systems, tools, and vendors; rank order priorities to mitigate gaps while clearly communicating immediate and longer-term needs to executive leadership.
- Assess (and continually refine the structure of) the TA organization; expand the team over time by helping select, hire, coach, and mentor talented and driven professionals who will contribute significantly to the company.
- 10+ years of TA leadership experience in the Biotech/Pharma industry, along with significant background in a global, scaling public company.
- Experience collaborating with ex-US business partners and establishing remote talent teams (familiarity with recruiting in China is ideal).
- Superior ability to assess an organization’s requirements to develop appropriate talent strategy.
- Demonstrated experience in building out recruiting functions in a start-up environment.
- Proven credentials as an organizational leader with deep business and quantitative acumen; possessing the ability to use data and metrics to both influence and drive effectiveness in the recruiting process.
- Dedication to the highest level of quality in identifying top talent, providing exceptional client service, and building/maintaining an optimal candidate experience.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally at all levels with demonstrated savvy in advising and partnering with senior leaders.
- Strong understanding of various HR disciplines and the roles each plays across the employee lifecycle; hands-on experience in other HR areas and business functions is highly preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of best practices in TA along with the latest TA technologies, systems, processes, candidate sources, and sourcing platforms to support recruiting and reporting requirements.
- Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent project and program management skills with superior attention to detail.
- Team player mentality, proactive mindset, and willingness to “roll up sleeves” to get the job done.
- Ability to travel to Shanghai office, at minimum, once per year.
- Commitment to working onsite in South San Francisco 3-4 days per week.
- BA/BS degree in HR, Business, or related field; master’s degree is ideal.
