Quality Assurance (QA) Inspector - Line Monitoring, Verification, and Clearance

Job Summary:

The QA Inspector is responsible for ensuring product quality throughout the manufacturing process, with a primary focus on real-time line monitoring, verification, and line clearance procedures. This role involves performing inspections, tests, and checks at various stages of production to ensure compliance with established quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements. The QA Inspector will proactively identify and document non-conformances, conduct thorough line clearances to prevent cross-contamination, and communicate issues to production staff and management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Line Monitoring:
  • Conduct regular, scheduled, and random inspections of production lines to ensure processes are being followed correctly.
  • Monitor critical control points (CCPs) and quality control points (QCPs) to ensure they are operating within established parameters.
  • Observe manufacturing personnel to confirm they are adhering to standard operating procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and safety protocols.
  • Collect and log data related to process parameters, product attributes, and environmental conditions.
  • Product and Process Verification:
  • Perform in-process and finished goods inspections using a variety of tools and methods (e.g., visual checks, measurements, functional tests).
  • Verify that raw materials, components, and packaging meet specifications before and during use.
  • Conduct sensory evaluations (e.g., taste, smell, appearance) as required by product specifications.
  • Audit production paperwork and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and legibility.
  • Line Clearance Procedures:
  • Perform comprehensive line clearances at the end of each production run or product changeover.
  • Inspect the production line, machinery, and work area to ensure they are free of previous product, materials, and documentation.
  • Verify that all non-conforming or rejected materials from the previous run have been properly removed and identified.
  • Document the line clearance process thoroughly, confirming that all steps have been completed before the next product run begins.
  • Work closely with production and cleaning staff to address any issues identified during the clearance process.
  • Non-Conformance Management:
  • Identify and isolate non-conforming products or materials immediately.
  • Document all quality issues, deviations, and non-conformances accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Initiate non-conformance reports (NCRs) and assist in the investigation of root causes.
  • Collaborate with production and management to implement immediate corrective actions.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain detailed and organized records of all inspections, tests, and audits, including line clearance logs.
  • Complete all required quality control forms, checklists, and logbooks.
  • Generate daily, weekly, or ad-hoc reports summarizing quality performance and highlighting key issues.
  • Assist in preparing documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Training and Communication:
  • Provide guidance and feedback to production staff on quality-related matters, including proper line clearance techniques.
  • Effectively communicate quality issues and concerns to supervisors, managers, and other relevant departments.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss quality trends and improvement opportunities.


Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific field is a plus.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience in a Quality Assurance or Quality Control role, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Experience with line inspection and line clearance procedures is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS) such as ISO 9001, HACCP, or GMPs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and procedures.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
  • Good visual acuity, including color vision, to detect product defects and ensure line cleanliness.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to [Specify weight, e.g., 25 pounds].
