The Oklahoma State Auditor and Inspector’s Office is actively recruiting applicants for a Comptroller with state accounting, payroll and budget experience, high integrity, strong work ethic, and a commitment to its mission to hold government accountable.
RESPONSIBILITES: Under the guidance of the Deputy State Auditor, the Comptroller plans, organizes and directs the fiscal and some administrative functions within the office. As Comptroller you will utilize your state accounting skills to process payroll and coordinate with the accounting department to formulate and prepare the Budget Request, Budget Work Program, and Budget hearing information. You are also responsible for approving billings, reconciliations, all purchasing documents, vouchers, and contracts/leases. You will also supervise the accounting department, certified procurement officer and some responsibilities over human resources. Comptroller is responsible for developing and updating SAI policies and accounting procedures and maintaining our financial controls. You are responsible for preparing OMES GAAP conversion packages and working with our independent auditors.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or another business-related field and 5 years’ experience in the state accounting system, payroll and state budgeting, including 2 years in an administrative capacity is required. We are interested in candidates who possess strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills, customer service skills, and the ability to work as part of a team. CPA and CGFM will be given preference.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS: The successful candidate should know and understand the state CORE accounting systems including Workday and be proficient using Excel, Word, and Access. Candidates should also be knowledgeable with the state accounting manual, purchasing, human resources, budget and P-Card policies, state statutes, and generally accepted accounting principles. The candidate should be able to develop staff through personal leadership and promotion of teamwork, have a high level of managerial skills, and exercise ethical business judgement.

- Competitive salary - entry level $80,000 - $95,000 range; salary is commensurate with education, certifications, and experience.
