About The Role

The Logistics Specialist plays a pivotal role in coordinating daily domestic shipping and logistics functions, managing carrier relationships, and ensuring efficient, cost-effective transportation solutions that meet customer expectations. This is a mid-level position ideal for logistics professionals with demonstrated operational skills, regulatory knowledge, and customer-focused execution.

Job Responsibilities

  • Experienced in managing material shipping, receiving, and packaging processes to ensure efficient inventory and logistics flow.
  • Coordinate and schedule domestic transportation needs, ensuring accurate and timely shipment of customer orders and inter-company transfers.
  • Prepare and verify domestic shipping documentation, including bills of lading and airway bills, ensuring compliance with shipping standards and internal processes.
  • Review and reconcile freight invoices, track shipping costs, and investigate discrepancies in partnership with Finance.
  • Interface with freight forwarders, trucking companies, and internal teams to resolve service or timeline issues and identify process improvements.
  • Conduct regular meetings with carriers to assess service performance and negotiate competitive freight quotes.
  • Provide visibility to internal teams through daily shipment status updates and escalate disruptions proactively.
  • Load and unload delivery vehicles as needed; maintain compliance with all warehouse safety procedures.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Customer Service, Sales, and Operations to align logistics execution with business goals.
  • Mentor entry-level logistics staff by offering guidance on processes, documentation, and systems usage.
  • Ensure adherence to all company policies and applicable U.S. transportation regulations.
  • Perform other related duties and project-based assignments as required.

Qualifications

Required (Must Have):

  • Associate degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in logistics, including material shipping, receiving, packaging, and transportation coordination within a fast-paced industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of domestic and international shipping procedures and transportation regulations (e.g., DOT, OSHA).
  • Hands-on experience with FedEx and UPS shipping systems, including rate quoting and label generation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under general supervision and demonstrate initiative in daily tasks.Preferred (Nice to Have):
  • ERP or transportation management system (TMS) experience (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Forklift certification or experience.
  • Continuous improvement or lean logistics training.

Work Environment

  • The position is predominantly located in a warehouse environment, involving frequent engagement with inventory and shop floor operations.
  • Factory and warehouse settings may require occasional use of PPE (provided by Hexagon).
  • This role requires frequent bending and lifting of items weighing up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to use a computer, scan documentation, Operate standard office and shipping equipment.
  • No regular travel required.
