Provides direct patient care in a specialty unit, adhering to standards, policies, and organizational values.
- Evaluates patient and family learning needs, offering age- and culture-appropriate education.
- Plans, implements, and assesses care to optimize outcomes and resource use.
- Monitors and documents patient condition, communicating effectively across disciplines.
- Delegates tasks to ancillary staff and precepts students and new hires.
- Requires RN license, BLS certification, and at least 1 year of nursing experience.
- Additional certifications such as chemotherapy, ACLS, PALS, and NICU NRP may be necessary depending on the unit.
- Work involves physical activity, including lifting, standing, and walking, and requires critical thinking and effective communication skills.
- Shift is days, with work conditions involving exposure to biological hazards and physical demands.
