Provides direct lactation care and education to breastfeeding mothers and infants.
- Delegates patient care to ancillary staff and may precept students and new hires.
- Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including referrals and psychosocial support.
- Assesses learning needs, provides education tailored to patient and family.
- Plans, implements, and evaluates care to optimize outcomes and resources.
- Monitors and documents patient condition and communicates effectively.
- Requires critical thinking, effective communication, and ability to work under stress.
- Must have at least one year of nursing experience, lactation/breastfeeding certification, and a nursing degree.
- Shift is overnight; physical demands include lifting, standing, and walking.
